Now, April marks the launch of a new open manuscript workshop, plus a
new craft lecture series called P(EAR), as well as several featured
showcases and a new weekly open mic. Because so much is going on, I’ll
also be holding a public meeting on April 18th for people to find out
more info about the Guild. (Details on everything below.)
Also, you might wonder why I’m personally doing so much this month: I
have a new book out, Caput Nili: How I Won the War and Lost My Taste
For Oranges. And, get this, Local Poets Guild will be distributing the
book and earning 50% of jacket price every time I sell a copy. That’s
about $8.50/book that will go into our programming pot. For once I can
say, shamelessly, BUY MY BOOK! I’m also super-proud of it and grateful
to West End Press and Burning Books for publishing it.
Also, thanks to Don McIver, there's also a discussion started at our
blog on form poems. He initiated it with this post
http://localpoetsguild.wordpress.com/2011/03/31/meditation-on-form-poems-by-don-mciver/
and everyone is invited to chime in by commenting or sending short
essays on writing form poems to localpo...@yahoo.com ... And I'm
working on setting up a public google calendar of Guild events.
Meanwhile, event details are listed below this letter. And forgive
me---I'm still trying to figure out how to use google groups so I
apologize if you get this twice.
Thanks everyone for everything. I believe in this community and hope
we can find ways to help nourish great literature and have plain old
good fun to boot.
Regards,
Lisa Gill
