Are punks history?

Yet another interesting web site. This history tour puts all others to
shame. Great use of Web 2.0 technology. And it does bring up the
question - just what is historical? It's easy to think of a 1880's
farm house as historical but is the Minneapolis punk rock scene in the
1980's historical? I brought up in an earlier post about the great
post-war suburban migration as history and that history organizations
need to look toward it as that generation passes on. Some like the
Minnesota Historical Society and the Richfield historical Society are
doing just that.

I have often thought a great exhibit for the Edina Historical Society
would be "Southdale Mall Rat Culture Throughout the Decades". Talk
about an exhibit that even today's kids can relate to.
