I hope you are well, I know it has been a long time. This time is very stressful for some, especially those that didn't see this coming. And, we'll all, to one degree or another, no matter how mentally prepared we thought we were, be wondering what is going on, and will it mean violence
I'm trying what I can do, both online and offline, to help people to connect with one another, the Community Solution. I've been trying to balance my social media postings between explaining what is going on and what will happen, plans for individual action, and a bit of humor or lightness as well
I'd like to share a few reflections as I went through my day today
Firstly, the local future is quiet! Wow, the number of vehicles has dropped by 90%. People are at home, only going out for necessities. And, in places where they know one another, they're saying hi to one another. Not everywhere yet, but from the experience in Italy, we know more and more of this is going to happen
Second, that we now can see what is the critical features of our civilization;
communications, decision making, food, energy,
transportation, and healthcare; in perhaps more or less that order.
To me, this looks like the bare essentials, and the part that should be maintained by the public, i.e., the public sector. Everything that is now closed, that is the private sector, where people do whatever they want to do, and if they do something that others like, they earn trust, love, credit
Third, the local future is a fractal network of families which connects us all in one global community. For myself, I am in my neighborhood, and I've already spoken with most of the neighbors, asked if they need something, encouraged to ask if in need, and made sure we had each other's text numbers. I envision it something like the organization of an army, the smallest group is the household, then the closest neighbors, then the next groups of neighbors in each direction, and on and on and on
But I should let you get a word in edgewise! How are you doing?
