Hi Lou and VAL 2011, I'm going to respond to Lou's question first about how to best view the 6.5 hour conversation that Nicole Foss and I broadcast last night about the positive vision for the (more) local future, facing the fear of death, and understanding the predicament we are all in. The rest of this email is for everyone, especially those interested in Vision - Action - Leadership 2020 -- VAL 2020, the next conference :-)
Thanks for the question, the video should play better today, especially if you set the resolution to the lowest level. To do that, click on the Gear, which should be at the lower right of the player, then Quality, and then 144p, which will still have very excellent audio, but the picture will just be soft. And, I know that Nicole and I are both quite attractive, but we look even better with a soft filter :-) lol
Regarding in person, I would love to do an in person conference, but with the current predicament, I'm not sure how that would work... yet. Ultimately, we really need to move to the next level of conference, which is a model that I developed, based on Bioneers, which I call the "distributed conference". This was meant to be the 2012 or 2013 conference. This is how it works:
People get together, in groups, of any size, in their own neighborhoods, or communities, or alone, or with family, and they hold a local conference. There would be an agenda, which all sites would follow simulataneously. There would be live talks, which originated from wherever the speakers are. So, for example, Nicole Foss could be presenting from a group meeting in New Zealand, say, with 50-100 people there, but she would broadcast live from there, and all the other sites (and individuals) would tune in. Then, there would be Q&A with upvoted questions generated everywhere during the talk. Then there would be individual facilitated (or just following the touch-stones) conversations, for say, 30-minutes to an hour. Then, another talk, this time from Richard Heiberg in California, or Steve Keen in New Zealand, or Sally Erickson in Maine, or Ellen Brown in Arizona.
We could also include some panel discussions, but that would depend a lot on geography, and when people are awake! :-) For example, Steve and Nicole and I (and one other vegan permacutlurist woman, I don't know who that would be yet) are setting up a call for Monday 6/1/2020 at 9:00 p.m. EDT. But for Steve, it is 8 a.m. Tuesday, and for Nicole it is 1 p.m. Tuesday. So, depending on geography, the panels would be restricted to certain hours :-)
Of course, that stuff could be pre recorded. We could do this conference tomorrow, globally, if we used all prerecorded stuff. It would just take an agenda, that's all, and inviting people to join along.
And, of course, it could be more like Chris Martenson's "Crash Course"
or Richard Heinberg's "Think Resilience",
which are both excellent, other than they lack the actual person-to-person aspect.. But those are both great :-)
And, nothing to slow you from starting groups in your own community. I would show up as a facilitator or speaker or whatever since you are only 3.5 hours from me... although that is a long, long drive, that that would be like 10+ hours out of my life; so I'd much prefer something near where I live, within 30-miles, like at Circle Pines Center, or a local township hall, or library, or school, or college, or etc. :-)
Best,
Aaron
