Hi! I'm so excited to be joining this conversation about local
foods. I met Victoria and Kim at last night's panel at the Ann Arbor
Library and I met with Rena earlier this week, so I feel like I
already know many of you, but I'd like to introduce myself. I'm
trying to add another post to the Introductions topic, but I'm new to
google groups and may not have succeeded in posting this the way I
intended, so bear with me.

I'm Mary Wessel Walker and I run the Community Farm Kitchen, which is
a program with the Community Farm of Ann Arbor, a local CSA farm. The
CFK prepares/cooks/processes members' shares for them, making being
part of a CSA convenient and accessible to busy Ann Arbor families.
You can check out our website, www.communityfarmkitchen.com for more
information. Also, as of today (May 23) we still have memberships
available, so if you or someone you know might be interested in
joining, please let me know!

My local food credentials (if such are needed)... I grew up eating
local food from the Community Farm of Ann Arbor and I apprenticed
there for a summer while I was in college and have been working there
since graduation. (I went to Bryn Mawr College, just outside of
Philadelphia, and graduated with a degree in Philosophy with a minor
in math in 2006). I spent the winter of 2007 working on a biodynamic
dairy farm in southern Wales (UK) and the winter of 2008 working as a
cook and on grounds at Pendle Hill, a Quaker center near
Philadelphia. I started the CFK in 2007 and am excited about all the
things I've learned that are going to make 2008 a completely awesome
season :-D

The CFK has a blog, http://communityfarmkitchen.blogspot.com which may
be of interest to all local food folks, even those not involved in the
CFK. On the blog each week I post the CFAA share and my menu plan for
the CFK. I see this as a place where anyone trying to eat locally in
the AA area might get inspiration and recipe ideas. Check out last
year's posts in the 2007 archive.

I look forward to being part of this local foods conversation!
