Sometimes it can be helpful to have quotation marks that are turned a different direction from the publishing industry. While the publishing industry has open quotes that look like two sixes (66) and close quotes that look like two nines (99), the monument industry has been in the habit of using different open quote marks that look like two nines turned backward. With our TrueType fonts you'll be able to use either type. Here are the alternate keys you can use to access some of our alternate punctuation.
If these terms are new to you we recomend that you NOT purchase this font. It would be best to have your customers (or their families) type the text and email it to you as a PDF. If you need help turning the PDF into a cut file we have a file converter that you may find helpful. Email d-m...@designmart.com, or call 800-736-7455.
How to insert a special character into a document (Non-English Fonts)
First, you must use a program that utilizes TrueType fonts. Gerber Omega and MonuCad use proprietary font formats, and TrueType fonts must be converted to work with them. Some fonts with thousands of characters may not convert in these programs.
To get started open Character Map in Windows 10.
Left-click on the Start menu.
Left-click on All Apps.
Scroll down and left-click on Windows Accessories to expand it.
Left-click on Character Map.
Left-click the Font pull-down menu and left-click the name of the font you want to use.
Left-click on the special character you want to insert into the document.
Left-click Select and then left-click Copy.
Open / switch to your document and left-click the location in the document where you want the special character to appear.
Left-click the program's Edit menu or right-click the location where you want the character to appear and select Paste.
Many programs allow you to drag and drop special characters into documents. To do this, click the character you want to copy. When the character appears enlarged, drag and drop it into the open document.
If you do not delete previously copied characters in the Characters to copy box, they are copied along with any new characters you select.
If a private character does not appear correctly in a document, select the character in the document and change its font so that it matches the font you selected in Character Map.

I am a photography volunteer for Findagrave. I photographed a marker where the date of death was missing. I would like to try and match the font so I can get the death date on the photo of the marker. This couple passed away having no family in the United States (as far as I can tell). The wife passed first and then the husband. There was no one around to ensure that his death date was added to his cemetery marker. I would like to "add" it if I can match the font. Thank you in advance for any help.
We can engrave almost any font/MS True Type font. Additionally, we can engrave in any foreign language.

Font and lettering pertain to the type and style of wording on your memorial. Fonts and lettering can all be the same or vary if you prefer certain characters to appear differently than others. Below are some common fonts, with Regular Roman being the most often used. We typically suggest Regular Roman font if you do not have a preference.
Choose a stone size. Each stone is a one of a kind rock that will be custom engraved. Create a pet memorial, or a nice stone for your garden. All you have to do after you choose a stone size is fill out the form below the image. Write the text that you want to be engraved on your stone. There are endless clip art images available, so just write a general idea and we will find clip art that will match. Your Stone will be engraved with your text in the font you choose. We then paint your stone with a 30 year stone paint. The paint is the industry standard for monuments. When the stone is finished it is packed and shiped directly to you.
As you begin the final phase of designing the monument, keep in mind that Patten Monument is a custom monument company. That means we can transform almost any artwork and design into a lasting memorial. (When you have a second, check out our gallery for some beautiful examples of our handiwork.)
Outside of our custom design capabilities, we offer hundreds of templates and individual design elements for you to easily choose from. This allows you to create a wonderfully fitting monument by simply mixing and matching various elements.
As a general rule, we use a traditional roman font simply because it is the easiest to read. That being said, we can, of course, use other fonts depending on their complexity, style, and lettering size.
Shape carving is primarily done on leaves, flowers, and other plant-based images and designs. The leaves and flower petals are contoured creating a more life like design with added depth of the carving.
A very deep, statue-like carving. The figure physically stands out from the surface of the monument. Bas Relief is accomplished by handheld tools and is most effective when used on fine grain granite.
They are fully installable font files, able to be used in any software program for testing and comping purposes. They are not allowed to be used in a final project (whether personal or commercial) without purchasing a license.
Wasabi is as much a utilitarian typeface as it is a headline face. This realization led to the decision to produce a companion Condensed version shortly after the initial regular weights were developed and tested; so, try them all!
Is there a way to search Adobe Fonts for fonts that are similar to other fonts? For example, a client wants to use Avenir, but doesn't have the budget to license it, and they asked me to suggest an alternate that's available in their subscription to Adobe. I've haven't been able to find any way to search for fonts on Adobe other than by name or designer. There used to be a function in Typekit to search for style, weight, etc.
If you have a screenshot of the font you like, you can use the search bar at the top of the fonts.adobe.com page to search for similar appearing fonts. There's a camera icon at the far right that lets you upload images.
Thanks for the idea! As it turned out, posting an image in the search bar was pretty useless. The fonts it suggested had nothing to do with the font in the image I uploaded. However, after trying various other resources, I found the font search at Whathefont.com really worked the best.
We offer many styles of lettering. In addition to a variety of fonts, we also offer a variety of techniques for carving lettering into stone. This involves different outline treatments as well as different processes for finishing the stone or panel area around lettering. Here are some samples that may help you with your selection.
