Re: Home switches when running in step/direction mode
I am replacing a stepper based (FlashCut CNC) system with a S3x3 servo drive, And I need some help with the wiring of home switches in the system. I think I know the answer to this, But I wanted to confirm:
I'm wiring up my S3x3 controller to accept step and direction inputs from my machine via S3x3 connector J6, And my question is how the controller reacts to home inputs on J6-p9, J6-p11, And J6-p13.
Should the home inputs be:
a) Open(pulled 'High' by the S3xS) and limit switches routed to my host machine
b) Shared with my motion controller (switches closed to GND on home)
c) Limit input routed only to S3x3 controller (GND on home)
I think the answer is a) -limits left open to S3x3 and limits routed to my host machine
-So that the step and direction outputs will seek and 'back off' the home limits independently of the S3x3's servo drive outputs.
I have read through the sd_cnc documentation but limit inputs are not clearly addressed. Again, The answer might be obvious, But I wanted to see if someone here could confirm.
Thanks in advance
