Considering buying /building

Since the wife has 'authorized' some spending on more garage toys...

I'm strongly considering the Lobo cnc, however I've got a few questions...

has anyone looked into the acme rods instead of 1/4 -20 for the drive screws?
I've scratch build a pair of 3d printers and have had poor results from regular threaded rod.

also how difficult would it be to later upgrade from router to a more traditional spindle.
