As far as the downloader, I would suggest that you go to some site that you know for sure the download should work. Like YouTube. Pick a video and download it. See if you can play that one. That way we know for sure if it is your settings that are a problem, something got corrupted in the set-up, or something else.
In case you hadn't heard Ninjago: Shatterspin #1 was recently announced by Skybound and Image comics. After the Garmadon graphic novel, I received a lot of questions about whether I would be returning to the Ninjago franchise but I had to keep my answers vague until now. It's certainly a relief to finally be able to discuss this project (somewhat) openly after working on it for the better of last year!
Shatterspin once again focuses on a young Garmadon during a key point in his life as encounters a mysterious new threat and takes on some new responsibilities that will change him forever. The series will tie much closer to ongoing LEGO continuity and I'm once again on writing and drawing duties. However due to the amount of work, I will only pencilling the comic but the inker and colourist we have lined up will really knock your socks off (can't wait to share the finished pages).
The idea for the cover was to showcase a young Garmadon in a mysterious Wolf Temple facing off against some mysterious danger. The story has a lot of adventure in it and Garmadon does a lot of travelling to different places so originally I thought it be cool to have him garbed in a cloak and adventure gear. But since he's in his younger human form, there was always the worry that it would not be clear that this was a young Garmadon instead of his more familiar Oni self. Eventually I decided to err on the side of clarity and keep him in his traditional costume for this first issue.
I have a habit of doing inks and color at the same time. There's pros and cons to this approach, it allows me to better gauge the progress of the image but it can become a little chaotic as I bounce back and forth. In this case, I started to feel like the idea of a doorway opening off camera wasn't quite working. It's a cool idea but it also flooded the image with a bit of warmth and I wanted to keep things ominous and mysterious. I eventually decided to scrap that idea completely.
As the image was nearing completion, we decided that Garmadon could do with a bit of a more determined and courageous expression. We also changed up the floor to better match some details in the show as well as rescale and move certain elements.
Protip: When working on licensed properties, keep things on different layers. It's more work up front but it will make your life way easier when it comes to revisions. I did not follow my own tip on this cover....
Hope you enjoyed this behind the scenes look on my cover illustration process. To tell you the truth, covers are the thing that I find most difficult to do when it comes to making comics. Partly it's because I don't get the opportunity to do too much of them (there's only cover per comic after all), and partly it's because of the importance this single image has in selling the story. But I have a ton of fun doing them and it's always gratifying when I finally manage to wrangle one into decent shape by the end.
Today Skybound and Image Comics, in partnership with global children's book publisher Ameet, have announced a new comic book series, Lego Ninjago: Shatterspin #1 by Tri Vuong of Everyday Hero Machine Boy, and previous Lego Ninjago comic, Garmadon. And scheduled for the 22nd of May 2024.
"As the world of Ninjago faces a threat unlike any before, young champion Garmadon sets off on a quest to discover the truth behind the legend of The Forbidden Five and a secret power that could turn the tide of the Serpentine War! But can Garmadon resist the temptation in front of him to save Ninjago, or will he be consumed by the power he's so close to grasping?
""I'm super excited to go on another journey with my favorite LEGO NINJAGO character, Garmadon," said series writer and artist Tri Vuong. "We have a lot of exciting plans in store for him and I'm looking forward to exploring some interesting new facets to his story. I can't wait to show the fans what' we've been working on!"
"LEGO NINJAGO: SHATTERSPIN is the result of an unparalleled collaboration between AMEET, Skybound, and writer/artist Tri Vuong and the LEGO Group's NINJAGO transmedia team. Garmadon's visit to the Shadow Dojo in LEGO NINJAGO: SHATTERSPIN #1 kicks off a vivid adventure that connects with TV show and product line.
""I can't wait for readers to get their hands on this next installment of LEGO NINJAGO comics in SHATTERSPIN," said series editor, Amanda LaFranco. "This series has been closely developed with the LEGO team to expand the world of Ninjago in all-new and exciting ways! We're thrilled to have writer/artist Tri Vuong bringing his masterful storytelling back in this story, leading Garmadon on a new adventure that will take him exciting new places in the Ninjago universe and unlocking even more secrets within the Shadow Dojo!" "
the peak of ninjago media is the story mode of the ninjago world in lego dimensions - bc the ninja are only on screen for literally 2 seconds before they go right back to watching batman & friends torment the other competitors in the tournament of elements.
Hi. This is Thesecret1070. I am an admin of this site. Edit as much as you wish, but one little thing... If you are going to edit a lot, then make yourself a user and login. Other than that, enjoy Villains Wiki!!!
Alright, got another proposal for a Ninjago villain as I promised, and I think rather surprising one too. Though much like my previous candidate, he comes from a non-canonical comic...or at least his worst actions came from the comic. Yeah, this one was surprising to even me.
If you were around for the start of Ninjago like I was back in...2011, I think? Whatever, you probably remember the first major antagonist introduced to the series, Samukai, even if he wasn't the main antagonist of the Pilot Episodes. Nah, that was somebody else who didn't die within the first four episodes of the series. Samukai was honestly a pretty cool villain I won't lie, he was basically a skeleton version of General Grievous who literally had an army of skeletons. I mean, you don't get much cooler than that. However, as you can probably guess, much like a lot of starter villains, Samukai ended up being one of the more standard villains in the series and well, got killed off before he really could end up doing anything else. He would end up appearing later in the series aiding Sensei Yang but nothing he did there would still help him. Sorta just assumed he'd be another bog-standard villain...or so I...sorta thought.
As it turns out, one of the non-canonical Ninjago comics does actually give Samukai to I think EVERYONE'S surprise, some real big additional villainy. Turns out he and Garmadon planned some really, really, REALLY bad stuff that would happen should they ever be defeated. And without further ado, let's begin with this...surprising candidate.
Eh, I'm going to mention the main work here considering Samukai did at least originally appear in the cartoon; LEGO Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu is a Canadian animated series based on the popular LEGO brand of the same name. The show focuses on five (later, six) ninja who each have elemental powers: Kai being fire, Cole being Earth, Zane being ice, Jay being lightning, Nia being water, and Lloyd being energy. The six ninjas usually will go on adventures/missions usually to save Ninjago from multiple villains who appear throughout the series (e.g. Lord Garmadon, the Overlord, the Serpentine, etc.).
As I mentioned before, there are several comics/graphic novels that serve as spin-offs to the series. There are some instances where they are canon, like the Garmadon comics, but there are also multiple comics/graphic novels that actually are not canon to the main series. Destiny of Doom is one of them, set shortly after the Overlord's defeat in the second season of the show. It focuses on the ninja going up against several machines that pose a threat to the entirety of Ninjago, specifically made to activate if Garmadon was ever defeated. And with all that said, time to talk about the guy who helped Garmadon make those dangerous machines...
Samukai is the Skulkin General who was once the leader of the Underworld until Garmadon managed to overthrow him. After that, Samukai pretty much became Garmadon's chief enforcer when he still ruled over the Underworld in the show's Pilot Episodes.
Now, I will say...I'm not going to over what Samukai does in the show since I don't really think it is worth it; as I said, Samukai's pretty much bog-standard there. All he really does in the first couple of episodes in the series is invade a village without actually killing anybody, nearly kills the ninja several times, steals the Golden Weapons, and try to overthrow Garmadon. That's pretty generic villainy if you were to ask me; and yes, I am aware of the entire fact that Samukai does return in the Day of the Departed special, but he still doesn't really do much there, just tries to kill the ninja again.
What really makes Samukai bad are his actions revealed in Destiny of Doom: Prior to the events of the Pilot Episodes of the series, Garmadon and Samukai collaborated in building massive machines that would form into one if Garmadon ever were to be defeated, resembling the dark lord himself. Whenever Garmadon would be defeated, the machine would merge together and lay ruin to the entirety of the world by tearing apart the land and let the lava consume all. Samukai would tell Garmadon to go ahead and use the machine immediately, as it would be useful in their plans of conquering Ninjago, even if it meant destroying everything. Samukai would only back down after Garmadon suggested to him that he didn't want to rule a wasteland, and after they completed the machine, Samukai would place the parts in separate parts of Ninjago. Garmadon and Samukai would then choose to hypnotize themselves into forgetting about the creation of the machine, returning to their other villainous deeds.
