I would like to get vuescan going as it may be an acceptable solution for me in Linux - I use ABBYY FineReader with Windows and have struggled to find anything close to paralleling the FineReader experience in Linux. VueScan I can work with (probably with additional image editing software) if I can get it to run consistently.

While, to my knowledge, this is a generic issue with kodachrome, it would make sense to still scan with ir and save as alpha channel, as you might be able to use this data with a more elaborate or better tunable algorithm. AFAIR, the ir channel is just a regular colour channel in vuescan, so there is no special treatment if the correction algorithms are turned off.

I use it on a Windows machine, but according to

type in FF-680W as the model and choose Linux as the operating system and it shows that version 6.7.61.0 of the Epson Scan 2 linux driver was released on 09-13-2023
