Hi there,
is there an option to host the GnG Chrome App in a cloud storage bucket rather than the Chrome Web store?
Setting up the developer account and associated billing paying the $5 seems a little onerous.
Would the storage bucket need to be public?
Does the app contain any data that could be compromised?

Regards
Duncan

Hi,

I'm not sure about serving Chrome Apps from Google Cloud Storage, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say I don't believe this is possible. The Chrome Webstore provides a level of security and trust which allows us to use some of the really awesome Chrome App/Extension API's to identify the device ID, user, etc.

As far as I know, you can avoid the $5 fee if you publish to your internal users only (of your gSuite domain). Additionally, you're not paying to serve the Chrome App from the Chrome Webstore (only for the backend/frontend serving on App Engine).

I hope this helps and let us know if you have any further questions.

Best,
Michael Helfrich

Hi Mike,
thanks for the feedback, much appreciated.

I have still not been able to get past the $5 developer fee if I want to publish the app to the domain private section of the Chrome Web store. talking to our dev this perhaps a new 'feature'

Regards
