We had some kind of power issue last week (I know because the cluster
UPS went nuts, but only the host node and some network equipment run
off the UPS).. now only half of our IceBox will power up. Can anyone
direct me to some documentation to troubleshoot the unit, like maybe a
fuse or some kind of hard reset? Side B powers up fine, but Side A
won't power up at all. I've checked the electrical by swapping plugs
at the wall to make sure both power receptacles are working fine, the
only thing I haven't done is swapped the entire cable as it's still
all zip tied up.

This thing was set up before I got here, but I'm starting to think the
IceBox should have been on it's own UPS or at least some kind of power
conditioner/surge protector - but it's two power cords are plugged
directly into the wall.

I've not seen any service info on the iceboxes, but I DO know that they have 2 small fuses internally.  We had a similar situation, and our spare had a flaky fuse.  Sorry, I don't have part # info for it.

Thanks for the info. Did have the PS open but didn't notice any fuses, must be hidden under some of the other components that are squeezed into the small PSU.

Have send the box back to the seller, now have a nice case w. a built in TFT monitor and KB and am looking for a 2 socket board that will support dual core AMD CPUs and 16GB RAM, dual GBit NICs and still provide 4 PCI slots. Not an easy find.

Will be using it as a media, firewall, proxy server and one partition as a HD-DVR (in the EU we have some FTAs in Full HD). Somewhat worried about the kW that it could consume. Need to keep the idle power consumption (when providing the min. of proxy services) down to under 100W. Disks need to sleep when not in use, CPUs need to idle.

Lots of planning and researching still needs to be done.

Regards

Reg
