I posted a bunch of Linux Networx system manuels including ice box
manuals and other documentation at http://institute.lanl.gov/data/linuxnetworxinfo/

Hope this helps

Holy mackerel! Yes it does. I may not have CWX, but there's enough
whitepapers here I shouldn't even need it. Thank you!

I can offer up a bit of info I learned: The Rev D and E boards will
run rock-solid with dual-core Opteron CPUs. I've only tested the 68W
version of the 275, however. It requires a BIOS update that's still
beta. This update effectively makes the E board a G, but it also
works on the D boards. If anyone wants it, I can provide it.

With these particular CPUs being so cheap right now and all, maybe
some LNXI rigs could have their lives extended.

I'll put this same info in a separate thread as well so no digging is
necessary.

Be careful about talking about revs when addressing LNXI boards. there were at least 4 different manufacturers that I have seen used for the boards.
Be as specific as you can. I'm guessing you are talking about either later H8DCE from Supermicro (doubt it as I think those were dual core from lnxi) or the dreaded Arima/Rioworks/etc/etc HDAMA (most likely) from later Evolocity 2s.   I think I have a couple of these laying around spare if someone needs them (with CPUs but no memory)

I used to have original BIOSes for both and a webpage I made with complete schematics from a dead ICEBOX we had. I'll try and dig them up if I get some time.

Oops. Can't believe I left that out. Yeah, it's the HDAMA.

Why are they so dreaded? Other than changing hands so much, I mean.

Well they seemed more stable than several of the other nodes (including the much later dell's) but it was the 'swapping hands' no one owning the product for a while before... ahhh....   Flextronics I think?  finally owned it.   You should be able to get the latest bios/drivers from them finally.  This is all 5+ years ago though now so I've honestly forgotten a great deal of the whys and wherefors

I know this is a super old thread but so far I have no luck finding an Ice Box 3000 manual.  I used to work for Lnxi back when they went belly up in 2008 and were partially acquired by SGI.  I recently purchased an Ice Box 3000 for a personal project and have been looking for a manual.  I used to program the Ice Box and still have some scripts around for that but would love to have the manual.  The link below provided by Gary just takes me to a "Site is down for scheduled maintenance" page.  Is that site ever going to come back on-line?

Can anyone point me to any Ice Box documentation?

Amazing timing. I was sorting data early this morning and came across my local copies of the files Gary linked to in 2010.

I'm compressed them to a ZIP file stored on my server.

For the sake of future-proofing, any changes to the archive link will be posted in my Dashcat2 build thread at Hardforum:

The link is on post #637 in the thread. Permalink is:

Hope this helps. The documentation isn't specifically for the ICE Box 3000, but I was able to use it with mine.

That's it!  Wow.  Thanks much!

At a quick look, I was surprised to see the number of IceBox units
still in circulation via eBay.
