Hey guys,
I'm going to move to London in one month and I don't know anything about the city.
I want to live close to the heart of IT companies but I dont want to sell a liver to rent a place.
Could you please give me advices?
All I know at the moment is that the city is the financial place (and the most expansive one).

To echo that, research down that overground line. I live in Forest Hill and have a 10min walk,  20min train, 10min walk into work.

Depending on what you think an arm and a leg means, and whether you mind sharing or want a place of your own. South London == Cheapest (unless you want to live in suburbia). You might be still able to find a one bed flat in Central London for around £1500 a month. I suggest you look at the Peabody website: decent landlord, decent prices.

Have a look around areas like Harringay, Green Lanes, Hornsey & Finsbury Park ... you won't be in the heart of the city, but its a nice enough area and just 15mins on an overground train into Old Street and Shoreditch (check out the green line on this map). You could probably find a studio flat, or a 1 bed flat, or a room in a shared flat for about £800/month if you look around.

The Zoopla website is a decent place to start looking for places to rent ... http://www.zoopla.co.uk/
