Colleagues,
I have received a few private messages stating that the secretary shared the results previously. I fully understand that. However, the Secretary is not the Chair and does not declare election and ballot results according to our governing documents.
According to Roberts at 47:7(4), declaring the results of a ballot is the responsibility of the presiding officer: "To state and to put to vote all questions that legitimately come before the assembly as motions or that otherwise arise in the course of proceedings
(except questions that relate to the presiding officer himself in the manner noted below), and to announce the result of each vote..."
Also, 45:39 states, "...In balloting on a motion, the chair announces the result."
I believe the Chair is aware of this requirement because he verbally mentioned it directly to the Secretary during one of our first meetings.
While the Secretary shared the ballots and reported those ballots to us two weeks ago, the chair has yet to formally announce the results according to our rules.
I renew my request.
