Greetings All,
Regrettably, it has come to my attention that certain members have been circulating a new wave of blatant falsehoods in the last 48 hours or so. While there are numerous falsehoods being circulated, I will take a moment to address some of the most egregious ones that directly fall under the purview of the Office of Secretary.
On June 18, 2024, Mr. Ford directly emailed then-Secretary, Ms. Caryn Harlos, to report a potential conflict of interest as Director of Libertarian Mutual Aid, Inc. (Screenshot of the email attached.)
Mr. Ford noticed that Ms. Harlos had not updated the live sheet she had initially distributed prior to the LNC meeting in Miami, FL, and during that agenda item he mentioned it to her and the rest of the Board twice. (Timestamp on the recording is 17:52.)
Because the live sheet was the draft I myself worked off of in order to prepare for the LNC meeting in Providence, RI, the potential reported conflict of interest was quite clearly uploaded to OneNote on December 4, 2024. (Screenshots attached.) Anyone who bothered to open the OneNote would have seen it.
On October 18, 2024, Chair McArdle started a thread titled, “Re: New Potential Conflicts of Interest Form” with the LNC Board while the old Public List was being archived and the new one was being set up by staff. She starts the thread by reminding the LNC that an Interim Secretary needs to be appointed soon and follows it up by immediately disclosing two potential conflicts of interest. (Screenshot attached.)
As a reminder, Ms. Harlos was suspended on October 6, 2024, and I was not appointed as Interim Secretary until November 6, 2024. Nevertheless, I was Acting Secretary when the Chair sent out that email and officially appointed as Interim Secretary a few weeks later by the LNC, so that oversight falls squarely on my shoulders, for which I take full responsibility.
I will update the OneNote shortly to reflect the omissions.
Perhaps it’s too much to ask of adults in this Party, but instead of jumping to absurd conclusions and publicly maligning Board members as a result, I would suggest doing the bare minimum amount of research first. If this seems too laborious for you, never underestimate the power of a simple question.
On that note, please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
