Subject: Seeking Co-Sponsors: Resolution Supporting Izzy Aly

 Good morning,

I am seeking co-sponsors for a resolution in support of Mr. Izzy Aly, a libertarian activist in Florida.
Izzy is a legal resident not accused of a crime, who has been held in DHS custody for months against his will, at great risk to his health and future.
As Libertarians, we call for the abolition of the DHS and ICE, as we call for an end to all government aggression.

While I'm not including a directive, because I think we can voluntarily unite behind this, I ask that Party's media promote his cause and I hope to see affiliates voice support for Izzy's case.

--
WHEREAS, Islam "Izzy" Ali is a lawful and peaceful resident, an electrical engineer, UCF graduate, business owner, and an active supporter in the liberty movement;

WHEREAS, Mr. Ali was detained by the Department of Homeland Security when returning to the United States on December 22, 2025 after traveling abroad due to his father’s passing.

WHEREAS Izzy Ali holds valid immigration status and has maintained continuous lawful residence in the United States for approximately ten years, and has been charged with no crime;

WHEREAS, Mr. Ali has been held for a quarter of a year, far from home, in a detention center alongside hundreds of other detainees;

WHEREAS, Mr. Ali was diagnosed with Stage 3 chronic kidney disease in early January, yet was not informed of this diagnosis for approximately two months, causing a significant delay in treatment that could allow the condition to progress to Stage 4, requiring dialysis;

WHEREAS Mr. Ali, like many other such captives, should not be unjustly held by the state, especially to the detriment of his health;

WHEREAS, Mr. Ali has only seen a doctor once since his captivity, and only due to a medical emergency. Like other captives, he has not been taken to follow-up appointments despite medical recommendations to begin treatment;

WHEREAS, Mr. Ali has been evicted from his residence, had personal possessions discarded, and lost custody of his pet - all through no fault of his own;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Libertarian National Committee calls for the immediate release of Izzy Ali and other political captives;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Libertarian National Committee condemns the inhumane, unjustifiable actions of I.C.E. and the D.H.S., and calls again for their abolition;

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the Libertarian National Committee urges all members, affiliates, and allies to support captives such as Mr. Ali through public advocacy, community solidarity, attendance at organized protests, and through direct support to their legal defense.
Izzy’s legal defense may be contacted at (305) 849-4966, and is accepting donations marked for the “Izzy Aly Defense Fund” either by phone or by sending a check / money order to Urizar Molina Immigration Law, 9130 S Dadeland Blvd Suite 1623, Miami, FL 33156.

Can you provide verifiable proof that any of these statements are true from a credible source? I've only seen this written by Kevin Gaughen, which is the farthest thing from credible I can think of.

Not saying any of it isn't true, but the LNC should have substantiating evidence provided if we are to vote on a resolution. Doing a quick internet search, I found nothing.

I'd happily support a resolution if sourced evidence was provided to back these claims.

In Liberty,

Ben

Also, in this resolution the individual has his last name spelled two different ways. Just making you aware of that so it can be corrected.

Apologies for the misspelling - I crtl+F'ed it before sending based on an erroneous correction, which I should have second-guessed. "Aly" is the correct spelling.

The statements were run through people close to the situation, including an LPF member who is in contact with Izzy's legal defense.
Obviously I don't have access to DHS records, but the statements have been run by several people who are far more familiar with the situation than me.

For what it’s worth, several people in LPF have apprised me of the situation.

Izzy is also Egyptian and from FL, and to be honest wasn’t a big fan of mine (I was too MC). But I will stand up for him and his right to be left alone and released from the clutches of DHS.

I’ll wait to co-sponsor until there’s been more discussion and any changes that may be made.

Sincerely,
Steven Nekhaila

I tend to lean toward co-sponsor; my only concern is that there aren’t any hidden details (any FAFO actions on the part of Mr. Aly, for example, not that it makes any difference, but so the party is ready to answer when the “he should have complied” bots come out)
