Mr. Martin is now circulating yet another round of sensational claims, this time alleging “coercion” of a state chair and even insinuating physical threats. These messages are being presented as urgent crises when, in fact, they are a continuation of the same pattern of distortion.

Let me be clear: no one on this Board has threatened Mr. Scott, his family, or his state affiliate. No one has conditioned legal support on the removal of representatives. There has been no “hostage-taking,” no coercion, and no extortion. What is being presented is fiction dressed up as whistleblowing.

It is especially ironic that Mr. Martin, who has repeatedly issued vague and ominous threats in prior communications, now seeks to accuse others of coercion. Projection is not evidence.

What Mr. Martin and Mr. Chadderdon are conducting is a personal crusade, not a sanctioned inquiry. It has no authority and no legitimacy.

The only concrete consequence so far is the loss of pro bono legal representation for New Mexico, and that was caused directly by Mr. Martin and Mr. Chadderdon’s harassment of our legal counsel. They alone bear responsibility for that outcome.

The Libertarian Party must not be distracted by false narratives and political theater. Our members deserve professionalism and focus, not endless drama. I urge you all to see these tactics for what they are and remain committed to the work that truly matters.

Sincerely,

Steven Nekhaila

Chairman, LNC

Libertarian Party Leadership,

This is a developing situation of urgent concern of which all Libertarian Leadership needs to be aware. The email below was sent to me by the State Chair of New Mexico raising serious and credible concerns of coercion and improper use of force. I will avoid further commentary and allow readers to draw their own conclusions from the forwarded information below.

The security footage of the purported shooting (referenced below) is attached to this email.

We are taking this situation seriously and want to ensure all our leadership teams can make informed decisions and exercise appropriate situational awareness. May God be with us.

Hello Austin,

First, I want to apologize for any confusion caused by my previous message—I was using voice-to-text and email, which led to some errors. Please allow me to clarify my situation more clearly and directly.

Over the past several years, I have been the target of indirect and direct threats to both my livelihood and my health. These attacks have been proven to be deliberate and targeted. My family and I have faced threats not only in our home but also in our everyday lives. At one point, suspicious packages were delivered to our home, requiring the bomb squad to intervene. Most recently, we experienced a shooting outside our house; although our surveillance cameras did not capture the full incident, we were able to identify the vehicle involved—a car unfamiliar to our neighborhood. The shooter fired nine rounds in the cul-de-sac next to our home. These are not exaggerations—they are the harsh realities of what my family and I have endured.

When I say I do not wish to harm myself, I want to make it absolutely clear that I am healthy, strong, and committed to my faith and my family. My love for them is unwavering, and I would never hurt myself or my loved ones. My words are not cries for help but signals of resilience in the face of mounting pressure.

The threats I face now are more direct and severe than anything I have encountered in the past three years. The leadership of the LNC has placed immense pressure on me, essentially forcing me to choose between my principles and the resources I need to move forward with the lawsuit. Their demands—to remove both you and Andrew—are unprecedented and deeply unsettling. This is not simply political maneuvering; it is a direct attack on my integrity and the party I represent. In the past, those who wanted to help were pushed aside, but now the pressure is squarely on me and those I care about.

Looking back, I realize that I should have taken greater security measures at home, especially after the initial threats that came simply from attending a Trump rally. Standing up for truth and speaking openly about my experiences has put a target on my back, but I refuse to be silenced. My commitment to libertarian principles and to representing liberty-minded people in New Mexico has never wavered, even though I now face threats more severe than ever before.

I hope this message provides the clarity you need. There have been ongoing challenges with legal counsel and others who seem intent on sowing discord and confusion when what we truly need is direct, honest support and a clear path forward. For almost three years, progress has been blocked at every turn, and I never imagined it would come to this point—being told that I must sacrifice valued allies just to secure the resources our party was promised.

In closing, I offer this prayer: Lord, protect us. Grant us your armor and guide us in truth. Help us reveal what is happening behind closed doors, and open the hearts and minds of those who need to see it. Set us free to build a party that always puts liberty and freedom first. In Yeshua’s name, Amen.

Sincerely,

Dereck Scott

Chair: Free New Mexico Party.

Aloha, Mr. Scott!

Thank you so much for sharing your concerns with us.

First of all, I want to assure you that we are taking this situation with the utmost seriousness. I need to clarify a few things before proceeding any further:

  1. It sounds like there may be threats against you or your family; I wanted to make sure you were okay, and ask if there's anything I can do to help.

  1. You said that "I do not want to kill my self and I love my Family I have and would never hurt any of them but if they threaten me there is not much options I will have."  I wanted to ask if there is anyone trying to force you to hurt your family, or did you intend a different meaning?

  1. It sounds like LNC leadership is extorting your state. Is this an accurate characterization?

I will do everything I can to help to make this situation right without delay.

Hello Austin and Andrew,

As you are or not aware, I have a proverbial knight to my throat. Paul Darr says that you are the Problem, I do not believe that though. All I have seen is the Very hard work you both have put in for me just like Kayn Ann and Aangla and others and we have seen them all removed. I see that is what Steven and Paul want to do now and I am tired of losing people that help me and New Mexico. I see a pattern in all this is Luchini he has some on in the Board that is helping them mess up our work and our candidates. If they have me over a barrel I will have to abstain or vote against you both. I do not want to do that. but it looks like I have few options. We are held hostage. I am going to ask them how they want me to remove you both and I believe they want me to vote you out. I am fed up with all this. It needs to stop. We need members that do not work for other Parties or interests. it is over the connections being Thread here. I hope this brings it to the light once and for all? I do not want to kill my self and I love my Family I have and would never hurt any of them but if they threaten me there is not much options I will have. I do not want to vote you out. I have been happy with your work and your help to our party.

Sincerely,
Dereck Scott

The claim of violence toward the NM chair came from the NM chair. There is no claim that it’s coming from the LNC. Please, Mr. Chair, take a step back. I’m trying to stay out this feud but this is ridiculous.

I want to highlight a standard that was observed when Ms. McArdle served as Chair. At that time, when a Region Representative made public comments about an LNC contractor on their personal page, the board member was promptly asked to refrain from doing so and instead use the proper internal channels. The member respected that expectation of professionalism and voluntarily removed the content.

By contrast, in the current situation, multiple severe statements have been made about a contractor on this public list. When asked to move those discussions into internal communication, the request was disregarded. I wish we could return to the precedent set under Ms. McArdle, as it would have prevented much of the current difficulty. I will suggest again that removing Martin and Chadderdon from the lawsuit process to create a professional barrier between staff and returning to previous professional standards is all that is needed to proceed forward.

In addition, I was directly in contact with the New Mexico Chair and participated in advising that we issue a notice against the State of New Mexico, with the intention that the LNC later pursue a ballot access lawsuit. When the purpose of the lawsuit was misunderstood, it created an uproar on social media. I defended the action publicly in posts I saw, in countless direct messages, and in nearly half of my member meeting. After working so hard, it is deeply frustrating to see those efforts undermined.

Respectfully,

Paul Darr
Vice Chair, Libertarian National Committee

Mr. Darr,

You are corrupt, and your word-wall is meaningless in the face of evidence of your moral bankruptcy.

Have a nice day.
