I am very happy to see people coming around on the issue of ICE, and the numerous abuses from it and DHS.
But as happy as I am to see Libertarians on the right side of another issue, I also feel like we've been failing to make our stance known, shying away from a strong libertarian message.
However, it appears that we've been very hesitant to address this on social media, press releases, and communications campaigns to the point that we were virtually silent on it for years.
While some affiliates have been very vocal on ICE and DHS abuses, National has been more silent on this than we were on matters of governmental abuse during the pandemic. Part of that, I believe, was LNC communications being bottlenecked.
We should be owning this issue, not being flanked on it by the left. We have called for the abolition of ICE since its founding while Democrats and Republicans have funded it, expanded it, and have overseen unspeakable offenses under it.
In the past, many on the LNC have said "resolutions do nothing," that any resolution we pass should have some teeth to it. To accommodate that view, I am seeking cosponsors on the following:
Move to create an ad-hoc Supplemental Messaging Committee populated with the following members:
- Chase Oliver
- Kyle Davis
- Rob Yates
- Casey Crowe
- Amanda Griffiths
They shall be empowered to, alongside the social media committee, post statements across our social media accounts, as well as submitting articles and communications to the APRC.
These communications shall be primarily focused on the topics of ICE, Immigration reform, and governmental abuses.
Their statements must be in-line with the platform of the Party and our Statement of Principles, and their statements shall be subject to APRC review.
I feel this topic is incredibly important and we have thus-far been far too silent on it.
Thanks,
Keith Thompson
