Colleagues,
A reminder that both the LNC budget authorization and the ExCom authorization for the New Mexico trademark litigation are open for voting. These ballots have been open since Thursday. Given that this body has voted unanimously on this matter at every prior
opportunity, I see no reason they should need to remain open for the full week.
These motions should be straightforward. The full LNC unanimously directed this litigation on October 5, 2025. The full LNC unanimously budgeted $20,000 for it on December 6, 2025. The ExCom unanimously authorized it 6–0 on March 16, 2026. The Chair himself
moved the budget authorization currently before you. We are simply completing what has already been decided at every level.
If any member has concerns about this action, I would welcome that conversation — but I would note that this body has voted unanimously in favor of this litigation at every prior opportunity. Our affiliate in New Mexico is counting on us to follow through.
Please cast your votes. The ballot threads are:
Email Ballot 20260326-02 Budget Line Increase (LNC — all members vote) — currently 9 of 17 votes cast
ExCom Email Ballot 20260326-01EC Execute Trademark Retainer (ExCom members only) — currently 2 of 6 votes cast
We are halfway through the ballot period. These numbers should be higher for motions that have already passed unanimously at every prior stage. Please everyone cast your votes so this well-past-due matter can finally proceed.
