Dear Colleagues,
As you all know by now, a confidential operational report prepared by Strategists, Inc. was leaked today—by a member of this board—through a factional surrogate, for no other reason than to score political points.
The leak was pathetic and weak. The report, however, was necessary.
Let’s not bullshit each other. We are an organization in dysfunction. We are bleeding every month. Our membership is in decline. Donor trust is shattered. Our staff, the few left, are overworked, underpaid, and somehow still showing up while we play political
games and throw sand in the gears.
This board may very well be the last one standing between the Libertarian National Committee and full collapse.
That’s not melodrama. That’s where the numbers are headed.
We commissioned this report to get real about our condition. And the message is clear: we are at the edge of the cliff. This is not a bad month or a rough patch. This is do or die. This is the fucking reckoning.
We can either choose professionalism, discipline, and unity of purpose, or we can be remembered as the board that sat around arguing while the roof caved in.
As you could probably gleam, I am not, and have never been, beholden to a faction, an individual, or anyone other than this cause. I am not here for clout, and I am not here for friendship, I am here to get a specific result that has been the goal of my involvement
over the past ten years in this organization. Your goals may differ.
I didn’t take on this role to manage decline. I took it to pull us out of the nosedive. And that requires more than talk. It requires discipline.
So here it is:
– Project Archimedes is being revived.
– A professional development lead and support team is being scoped and budgeted.
– Technical systems are being retooled.
– Fundraising expectations are no longer “encouraged,” they are mandatory.
– Public clownery and passive-aggressive sabotage will not be tolerated, and if you’re contributing to it, you are part of the problem.
– We have a wonderful, dedicated staff that is overworked and underpaid who is the real engine of the growth and progress of the Libertarian Party.
– We have a smart, competent Executive Director who has earned the trust of staff and shown she can lead a lean, agile team under pressure.
This is it. This is the fight.
Those who value clout, money, and being liked by their friends, or faction, over the mission will be remembered as such.
If you’re here to build, let’s get to work. If you’re here to stir shit, sabotage, or ride this thing into the ground with a smirk, get the hell out of the way.
We still have a window. Barely.
Let’s not be the board that watched it all burn and called it a debate.
Let’s be the one that turned it around, when it actually fucking mattered.
With resolve,
Steven Nekhaila
Chairman
Libertarian National Committee
