Subject: Resolution for Universal Freedom

Seeking co-sponsors for the following resolution.

Rationale: It is inevitable that Elon Musk begins the human colonization of Mars very soon. With this being a pressing matter, and a subject we have significant influence over, we must make our stance very clear. Sending a strong message through the cosmos, where sympathetic listeners are abundant, will ensure libertarians establish a strong societal standard in the broader galaxy.

WHEREAS, the Libertarian Party is grounded in the principles of self-ownership, private property, voluntary association, and the Non-Aggression Principle

WHEREAS, Mars is currently known to be void of zoning restrictions, income taxes, or other extortive measures

WHEREAS, should humans settle Mars, the immediate establishment of property and the defense thereof through homesteading would be both inevitable and morally self-evident

WHEREAS, the possible existence of indigenous Martian life (savages) would present an opportunity to introduce the superior culture of liberty, markets, and personal responsibility while rejecting human assimilation into Martian culture

WHEREAS, the Libertarian Party is opposed to coercive activity and enforcement agencies and therefore rejects the formation, and/or existence, of any Martian Interplanetary and Customs Enforcement entity (MICE) restricting natural settlement rights

RESOLVED, that the Libertarian National Committee demands that Mars remain, or otherwise become, a free society, grounded in the Non-Aggression Principle

RESOLVED, that any future or current Martian civilization should be "encouraged" to adopt libertarian principles enthusiastically and of their own "free will."

I vote double yes.

But I don't get it — why didn't you include a clause to demand that Mars "shall always supply enough water & oxygen to support all interplanetary migrants on or under the surface?"

Seems like you could save Mr. Musk trillions of dollars' worth of Terraforming with a really simple policy solution.

And to make sure we do more than just fix the problem with a resolution, we could also empanel a committee!!

I wonder why anyone hasn't thought of this before now? It seems kinda dumb we didn't do this decades ago.

Fundraising really can be rocket science, and we're going to need a lot of rocket science.

I just wish someone would entertain the Opossum resolution I sent last year. If I could, I would co-sponsor this. Universal Freedom is the biggest issue of our time.

However, since it's unlikely to come to fruition, you all should take the next best path for your life and the closest thing to freedom that we have as libertarians... move to New Hampshire.

I wish libertarians would take this more seriously and I would appreciate co-sponsors. While we are tirelessly working to set this world free in our lifetime, and our strides are countless, we must also keep that world free in our lifetime.
