Good evening,

The Kennedy campaign sent a fundraising email this evening asking people to donate to the JFC in order to support President Trump.


This means we are partnered with / "joining forces with" the reelection of President Trump.

RFK Jr. is asking for donations not to promote principles, to smash the two-party system, or to help Libertarians — he is asking for contributions to aid Donald Trump. The donation link goes to RFK Jr's contribution page which encourages donations through our joint fundraising agreement. 

To support the joint fundraiser is to support President Trump.

Begging your pardon, I was traveling on LP business when the initial request came through and had not yet gotten to a computer today.

I am pleased we're now in the business of answering questions. Perhaps that new direction came up during board coaching.

As requested, here is the full text of the email:

The donation link, of course, goes to Kennedy's donation page with a campaign tracking parameter. This prominently promotes the Kennedy Victory Fund / JFC as the first item on the page under the hero image, linking to the JFC / Kennedy Victory Fund where the LNC is mentioned as we are party to that fund.

I have seen some assert that the screenshots are forged, that Kennedy never asked people to support Trump in all states. If that is a concern, googling excerpts of the email yielded plenty of articles backing up its legitimacy. 

To be clear: the concern here is that the email is openly saying people should support Trump. That email then links to Kennedy's donation page which prominently urges large donors to contribute to the JFC / Kennedy Victory Fund, to which the Libertarian Party is a member.

The email has two URLs, both linking to different donation campaign pages on Kennedy's site.
Both of those pages prominently promote the JFC:

I don't think anyone needs to demonstrate that the JFC / Kennedy Victory fund page mentions the LP - that's been discussed ad nauseum, as I'm sure we'd all agree.

If we're being pedantic, both donation links are one click separated from the JFC, as donations under the FEC limit just go to Kennedy's campaign directly. But that's not a meaningful distinction, of course, because both pages prominently mention the JFC for donors over 6,600, as that's the entire point of the Kennedy Victory Fund going through us.

I have provided the full text of the email.
I have provided a screenshot of one of the landing pages from a donation link. The other is similar and also links to the JFC / KVF.

Unfortunately I am unable to provide the actual email as it contains personally identifiable information and I do not have permission. I don't see why that would be an issue, though.

The email is legitimate, as can easily be corroborated. If the assertion is that Kennedy never sent it, I'm sure I can easily find news articles backing it up.

The email has two donation links that go to two different solicitation pages, both of which then link to https://kennedyvictoryfund.com for donors over 6,600 where we all know the LNC is mentioned - this is not strange nor new with Kennedy's calls for donations.

Apologies, but I'm not sure what information is unclear from the full screenshots, the offer to provide proof of such an email, and a full breakdown of where the donation links go - routing to the Kennedy donation page, which then directs donors over 6600 to the JFC. 

I'm not really trying to be a pain about it, but maybe that comes naturally. For roughly the same "click through experience," just go to Kennedy24.com/donate, and observe that it asks donors over 6600 to go to the JFC page, to which we're a party. The only real difference is that one of the email links more prominently asks 6600+ donors to visit the JFC page, as shown in a previous screenshot.

But the issue being brought up was that with RFK Jr. openly calling for people to support Trump, that puts us in a bad situation as we're still tied to him via the JFC and other actions.

Even if you believe the email is a complete fiction, that doesn't really matter because RFK Jr. is openly, blatantly supporting Trump now in all states. That is the crux of the issue - RFK Jr. has gone from passively hem-hawing for Trump to outright calling for voters to cast their ballot for one of the old party candidates.

This isn't some leaked secret. The banner on his campaign page currently reads "A vote for Trump is a vote for Kennedy" and I'm at liberty to share that:

I don't have the actual email, the email itself is enough to completely blur the line but argument made.  Anyone with the unique token could find out who it went to and to me, that's invading PII and a big no no.  But call me crazy, we aren't supposed to be funding endorsing Trump.

Also, why are you all talking about “PII” as if you’re being asked to violate HIPAA or something? Forwarding an email with a link is simple, and before you press SEND, you can delete the original sender’s email address from the body of the message. Piece of cake.

The screenshot being spread far and wide—and the only evidence any of us here has/had ever seen—appeared deliberately positioned to show a direct link from the Trump email to the JFC, which as we've managed to deduce isn't the case. I'm not sure why some of you think that the JFC situation is in any meaningful way “different” now that RFK is supporting Trump. I suspect TDS? Could it just be that?

I don’t think it matters in the slightest. Not at all. I didn't support RFK when he was an Independent. I don't support him now. I don't support Trump. I don't support Harris. I don't support Jill Stein or Cornell West or any of these people.

But I'll take 10% of any of their donations for the LP if I can manage to get that deal. It would be very stupid not to. It would be financially irresponsible not to. To oppose the JFC as a member of the LNC is, in my opinion, to work against the interests of the board you sit on.
To be clear, if we could make a fundraising deal like this with every politician on earth from any political party that exists, I would do it. This is using FEC rules to benefit the LP. Of course I am for this. We all should be.

Do the people opposing the JFC honestly think that this donation money makes the world a more free place if it goes somewhere else other than the LP?

Do you? You’d rather that money stay in the pockets of RFK supporters? You’d rather the LP had less money to fund ballot access, help out our state affiliates and candidates? You’d rather the LNC had less money to work on issue coalitions? Less money to oppose war? Less money to fight for free speech? Less money to spread the message of liberty nationally and beyond?

I find this perspective bizarre. Especially for LNC board members charged with maintaining the health of the LP.

I’m also quite annoyed that some of you are blowing up the Business List like it’s your social media home page. It’s unprofessional. It’s disrespectful. Please behave better.

So, to be clear the “Donate Now” button within the email (that Mr. Darr graciously provided) takes you to a Kennedy campaign webpage. That webpage then has a box with a separate link to the KVF for those that want to donate more than $6,600. The donate button in the email does not take you directly to the KVF as the image way at the top of this thread dishonestly suggests.

Regarding the solicitation email link:
That's not some "Ah ha! Gotcha!" moment - I've said the same thing multiple times in this thread. Email->Donation Page->JFC. Of course the initial link is to the donation page, RFK Jr. wants the full cut for donations under 6600 as has been said in this thread already.

I'm sorry the initial screenshot I got didn't include the landing page, but the fact is that the JFC is advertised on the page directly linked to from the email. That doesn't change the fact that RFK Jr. is now openly and fully supporting Trump and we continue to be associated with his campaign.

Someone else finally sent it to me, but if you are the one who complains, you are responsible for it. As it stands now, I do not take you seriously because you are willing to clog up the public email list all day with complaints, but you can't send an email privately to the Chair of the board you sit on. I'm pleased you could verify your receipt of the email which has been provided in a few ways:
  • My rep, to whom I am a subordinate on this body, provided the email in this thread.
  • It was sent to you last night.
  • I provided the full text and explained multiple times how the links flow: Solicitation Email->Donation Landing Page->JFC.
I apologize that I was not at liberty to directly send the copy I was given, but I did reach out to others to try to get a copy to you.

The member who sent it to me was very concerned about it as it asked voters to support Trump in all 50 states and we have an association with the RFK Jr. campaign.

There exist multiple ties binding us to the Kennedy campaign, including:
  • Our failure to openly condemn affiliates seeking to nominate RFK Jr.
  • Going after Caryn Ann for assisting the Libertarian candidate over RFK Jr.
  • Our engagement in a joint fundraising campaign whereby we spend 90% of the donations on Kennedy.
  • Conditional qualifiers used when voicing support for our candidate.
With Kennedy now telling voters in all states to not vote for the Libertarian candidate, but for Donald Trump, it seemed the body may wish to reconsider our association.

The concern isn't that the email directs people to the JFC, it's that Kennedy is openly supporting Trump and we're in a friendly, monetarily-bound relationship with him.

My intent is not to be insubordinate, as we are not a top-down organization. Rather, I am being subordinate to my region.

Mr. Malagon, I know you are frustrated by the recent barrage of emails. Mr. Bost, thank you for the call for civility. I assume Mr. Malagon is frustrated because of the all day stream of time wasting arguments and unprofessional behavior. This thread has run its course.
