This is the interesting thing about email votes.  The making of the motion stops nothing.  It "delays" nothing unless it passes.  That is why dilatory is irrelevant in this context.  It only matters if it wins.  If it wins, it's the will of body.  Using diktatory to stop a valid motion that ceases nothing unless it passes.

I am not out of order, I'm allowed to explain my position.

That's all I will say.  The members can judge what is being done.

This would not stop any planning, only its public execution.  After careful review of the submitted amicus briefs, current execution, and advice from my personal legal counsel I am very concerned about potential liability and would like others on the board to have opportunity to join in opposition if they wish.

Also the wording of the motion, "cease public execution of the joint fundraising plan," does appear to be asking us to hold off on doing something we aren’t/weren’t doing.

The Chair already ruled on the motion.  I am not appealing as apparently any motion I make is o”bstructionist.”  However, a regional can certainly appeal, and I would join.  If a regional doesn’t wish to, I understand, and leave it to the readers.

Agreed. If anything, Kennedy is fundraising for us.

As I said in an earlier thread, I would be thrilled if every candidate from every political campaign in the country funneled their donations through the LP and we got a cut.

Oh. And don't we, as libertarians, think all these FEC laws are corrupt nonsense anyway? I sure do. If I were in charge, I'd write a strongly worded letter to the head of the FEC – right before I abolished it.

I am pleased to hear we consider RFK Jr. to be a political enemy. The point of contention, then, is whether or not the joint fundraiser for our opponent amounts to fundraising for our opponent?

Kennedy Jr. has launched a joint fundraising committee with the Libertarian National Committee, looking to bolster his campaign with the help of a third party that is already fielding a separate nominee for the White House," the Washington Post reports. "While joint fundraising committees are common, it is unusual for entities that are ostensibly rivals to make such an arrangement."

Yes, I know - consider the source. But one can be forgiven, I trust, for thinking that aiding "The Kennedy Victory Fund 2024" is akin to helping Kennedy's campaign.

This, of course, is complicated by the fact that multiple state affiliates have rejected the Libertarian candidate in favor of RFK Jr., with whom we have entered into a collaborative fundraising agreement.
