Missing MDT stats

Howdy all,
I was just investigating why I do not see MDT stats in our LMT data stream on Hopper (NERSC Cray XE6). I see in liblmt/mdt.c that there is a note saying that sum and sumsquare are missing from Lustre 1.8.2. We are running 1.8.3. Has anyone looked into this further? Is there some way to get MDS statistics? Do the statistics reappear in a later version of Lustre?
