Dear Fellow Students,

It doesn't take much to giveback to the community in a meaningful way!  Twice each year, UCLA's LatinoMedical Student Association (LMSA) Chapter hosts the Lennox Health Fair to provide a wide variety of medical services tothose with little or no access to health care, and we need your help tovolunteer on Saturday, March 17, 2012 from 8:00am-3:30pm.  Even if you are unsure about how many hours you cancommit, sign up now and the hours are flexible.

It is the perfect time to practicethose clinical skills and then celebrate St. Patrick’s Day! MS1s and MS2s will be assigned to interviewpatients about their PMH at registration, to take blood pressure and BMI, or towork as a patient advocate guiding patients around the fair.  MS3s and MS4s will see patients and presentto the volunteer physicians (familiar faces from mobile clinic).

For those of you who speakSpanish even a little bit, we NEED YOU!   If you don’t speak Spanish, weneed you, too!!  The Lennox HealthFair is the product of a powerful collaboration between the David Geffen Schoolof Medicine/Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science, and the LennoxSchool District.  Volunteering at the fair will be a greatopportunity for you to build your clinical skills and give back to thecommunity.

If you have any questions aboutvolunteering, please email Tanesha Moss at  lennox.he...@gmail.com.

The Lennox Health Fair is alwaysa wonderful opportunity to assist in providing medical care and healtheducation at every step of the process from registration to blood pressure andglucose screenings to chaperoning a family.  How else will we as medical students learn how to betterserve our patients than by meeting them in their communities?

During our last health fair, withall of your help, we assisted morethan 130 uninsured and low-income adults and children who might nototherwise have seen a physician. Your participation will help us to continueproviding this valuable service for our community.

Thank you so much for taking timeout of your busy schedule to volunteer. We couldn't provide such a valuable community service without YOU andthe community of Lennox thanks you!

Sincerely,

Your Lennox HealthFair Coordinators

…and the rest of theLMSA Board!
