KPLA 2012 Scholarship Program:
Application Deadline This Thursday!
Dear friends and colleagues,
the Kaiser Permanente Latino Association of Northern California (KPLA)
is pleased to announce our 2012 KPLA Scholarship Program.
KPLA scholarships are for students
who demonstrate – through their activities in school, in the community,
or in the face of unusual circumstances – that they have the potential
to be Latino Health Care Leaders of the future.
For 2012, we plan to offer
scholarships to current students residing in the Kaiser Permanente Northern
CA Service Area and scholarships designated for nursing students.
The student should be:
graduating from high school in spring 2012, or
enrolled and attending an accredited college or university in fall
2012, or
attending an accredited medical school in the Northern California
Service Area, or
Enrolled in an accredited Northern California School of nursing
and working to complete an ADN (Associate Degree in Nursing) or a BSN (Bachelors
degree in nursing). Students enrolled in ABSN (accelerated BSN programs
are eligible)
Career goals may be in any
Allied Health Care area; including clinical and non-clinical services,
such as medicine, nursing, pharmacy, business services, human resources,
information technology, marketing, etc.
Because we want to address
health disparities in the Latino Community and support the development
of Latino Health Care leaders, the person must be of Latino descent/heritage.
The Chicana Latina Foundation
will be collaborating with KPLA to review and award the Nursing scholarships.
The following other Kaiser
Permanente employee associations also offer scholarships to graduating
high school seniors and medical students.
KP African American Professional Association - Gloria....@kp.org
/ Marsha....@kp.org
KP Pride - contact Alex Gonzalez at Alexander....@kp.org
KP Asian Association – Contact Suzanne Furuya at schol...@kpaaonline.org
Please share and distribute
the attached files with your colleagues, staff, and potential applicants.
Applications must be postmarked
by May 31, 2012 and the scholarship awards will be presented at
the KPLA Latino Heritage Awards Banquet to be held on Saturday Oct. 13th,
2012 at the Black Hawk Auto Museum in Danville.
