Hello all LMP birders and adventurers!
We hope everyone had a fantastic summer.
As the season turns to migration and the promise of north winds to
come, my thoughts turn to tropical paradises and the places “our
birds” spend the non-breeding season. Here is an opportunity to travel
to a new tropical Caribbean location to explore birds, wildlife and
culture with Lake Metroparks and Ann Bugeda, Chief of Interpretive
Services. This trip opportunity has just presented itself and so we
are floating it out there to see if there is any interest.
This is an 11 Day Nature Excursion to Trinidad and Tobago January 9
thru January 19, 2011.
This adventure includes the famous Asa Wright Nature Center ; the
oldest NC in the West Indies.
It boasts an amazing list of 460 birds, 55 reptiles, 25 amphibians,
617 butterflies, and over 2,200 species of flowering plants!
We will be five nights in Trinidad at Asa Wright, four nights in
Tobago,(two at Cuffie River and two at Blue Waters) then back to
Trinidad for the flight home.
The price is $3090 which includes a $300 donation to the Lake
Metroparks Nature Center. The single supplement is $900. Meals,
accommodations, guides and in-country transfers are all included.
Airfare is separate and is currently running about $800. Travel
insurance is recommended. A passport is necessary.
We will need to have 8 people by October 1 to make this trip a go. We
have 4 already who are very interested, so do not delay if this
appeals to you! A $250 deposit is due by Oct 1 with balance due the
Monday of Thanksgiving week.
If we do not have 8 we will have to cancel. If we have 6 or 7, we can
still go but we will need to add small group fees, but ONLY if
everyone is in agreement. If we do not have 8 or an agreement, your
entire deposit will be refunded.
We are running this trip in cooperation with Discovery Tours. Contact
