EffectiveFebruary 7, 2022: If you are applying for a CDL for the first time or adding a Hazmat, Passenger, or School Bus endorsement for the first time, you must complete entry-level driver training (ELDT) before taking a CDL road test. Hazmat ELDT is required before taking the Hazardous Materials knowledge test. The training provider must be registered on the FMCSA Training Provider Registry. Go to the Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) FAQ for more information about the ELDT requirement.

The road test scheduling system offers the earliest available dates and times at sites near the ZIP code you provide. Usually, the earliest date is within 3 to 5 weeks, but at peak testing periods during summer and school breaks it may be up to 10 weeks away. There are no waiting lists. Tests are almost always on weekdays (only rarely do we offer them on a Saturday).

Tests can be canceled/rescheduled or relocated due to bad weather or road construction. Before you leave for your test, check the DMV cancellations, closings, and delays webpage or call 1-518-402-2100.

After the road test, the examiner will give you instructions on how to receive your test results by visiting roadtestresults.nyrtsscheduler.com. Your results will be posted to the website after 6 p.m. on the day of your test.

An interim license that allows you to drive will be available to you online - keep the interim license with your photo learner permit. You will receive your photo driver license in the mail, in about 2 weeks. Drivers of all ages are subject to a probationary period for new drivers. If you are under age 18 and have a Class DJ, MJ, or DJ/MJ driver license, you must obey the restrictions for junior drivers (see Graduated Driver License (GDL) Law and restrictions on drivers under age 18).

Appointments are required for driving skills tests and must be scheduled a minimum of 48 hours and maximum of 3 weeks in advance. Make sure to review all requirements prior to scheduling a driving test.

You can view your appointment time in your myBMV account. After you login, go to the driver's license and state ID page and select Schedule Driving Test from the left navigation. Your appointment will display on the bottom half of the page.

Failure to pass the driving skills test in three (3) attempts will result in paying another fee. All tests must be completed within six (6) months from the day you pay your fee.

If you complete the driving skills test at your local high school or a commercial/private school/tester, the results of the test are submitted electronically to the Utah Driver License Division and entered into your driving record.

Third-party testers are certified to administer the driving skills test. An example of a third-party tester would be a company that provides testing for a fee. You may see a record example before making a non-refundable search.

The knowledge test is available to take online at KnowToDrive Nevada. These results are transmitted to the DMV automatically for the purposes of issuing instruction permits or driver licenses. Interpreters must attest that they are approved by a governmental agency, court, educational institution, or non-profit advocacy group by presenting a letter from the approving agency. This is submitted with an application (DMV 502). See DMV Approved Translators/Interpreters.

The DMV charges a Testing Fee of $25 for a first-time knowledge and skills test and $10 for all retests. The initial fee covers both written and drive tests for any combination of license classes or endorsements that are paid for at the same time.

The KnowToDrive Nevada written exam charges a $6.75 fee each time the exam is taken. This fee is assessed at the time of testing. The initial testing fee of $25 will still be assessed when collecting your driving credentials. These fees are in addition to other Driver License Fees. Certain medically-required tests are exempt. There is no charge for vision tests.

Are you able to take traffic school? To determine if you are eligible to participate in an Arizona Defensive Driving course, first select a school and submit your information. The school will conduct a court database check once you register to make sure you are eligible.

You have not attended a Defensive Driving course for an eligible traffic citation issued within the past 12 months. Your eligibility to attend a Defensive Driving Course is based on the date of your current violation not on the date you last attended a Defensive Driving Course.

The examiner/tax collector licensing agent will inspect your vehicle before the test is started. If your vehicle does not meet the minimum safety requirements, your driving test will be rescheduled. Learn more about Vehicle Safety Inspection Requirements below.

In certain industries, employers may be required to perform a motor vehicle record check by law. For example, companies with vehicles that cross state lines, transport hazardous materials, operate commercial vehicles, or carry passengers may be subject to specific regulations. Depending on applicable laws, such as those that exist for CDL drivers, employers may be required to perform pre-employment MVR checks, in addition to screening at regular intervals after hiring for compliance purposes.

For example, employers who partner with a consumer reporting agency, like GoodHire, must comply with the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Under this law, employers must provide disclosure of your intent to conduct a background check (including an MVR check), obtain written consent before proceeding, and follow the adverse action process if you choose not to move forward with a candidate based on information found in an MVR check.
