Announcement: Sage Days 87

Hi everyone,

I would like to invite everyone to Sage Days 87, which will take place at the University of Vermont in Burlington, VT from July 17 to 22, 2017. In this workshop, we will aim to improve both p-adics in Sage and the LMFDB (http://www.lmfdb.org/).

We have funding set aside for graduate students and post-docs to cover transportation and local lodging. We especially welcome applications from people with little or no experience with Sage. We will have a mini bootcamp at the beginning of the workshop aimed at helping these participants get up to speed.

Hi Cristelle,

I filled out the form, and don't want to be a problem, but I had two questions.

Is the mini bootcamp during the workshop, or just before?  It might affect my travel dates.

I was talking with Dave Roberts, and was contemplating making a triangle trip where I would first go Phoenix to MN to work with just him, then MN to Vermont for Sage Days, and then Vermont back to Phoenix.  I would make a printout of round-trip prices between Phoenix and Burlington when I make reservations, and then get reimbursed by sage days for the smaller of the round trip cost and the actual ticket cost.  That's the procedure ASU uses for non-standard ticket routes.  Would that be acceptable?  (I e-mailed this question to David Roe a week or so ago, but have not heard back.  I am not sure who is the best person to ask.)

Looking forward to being in Vermont rather than Phoenix in July.

Hi John,

The bootcamp is during the conference, on the first day.

And yes, what you suggest to do with the plane tickets will work. 

Don’t say anything about the weather so we don’t have a heat wave while you’re here. It’s no Phoenix heat but it’s a lot for us :P
