Hello Everyone!

I hope this email finds you well and enjoying the start of biking season.  We have a lot going on right now and we hope you guys can get involved!

First up, we have the deadline for LMB's annual awards May 15.  If you know someone who deserves to be nominated for any of the following categories

  • DISTINGUISHED SERVICE
  • BICYCLE ADVOCATE
  • BICYCLE EDUCATOR
  • LMB VOLUNTEER
  • COMMUNITY SUPPORT FOR BICYCLING
nominate them here.

Second, Ride of Silence is May 16. To find a ride near you go to http://www.rideofsilence.org/main.php

Third, the 7th Annual Lucinda Means Advocacy Day is May 23.  If you've been looking for a way to get involved in advocating safer cycling in Michigan, this is a great way to start, and you can sign up here.

And finally, some miscellaneous National Bike Month excitement! First, a huge thank you to Representative Anthony Forlini, a bicyclist himself, for introducing the resolution naming May as Bike Month in Michigan.  Rep. Forlini will present the resolution at Advocacy Day May 23. Second, in conjunction with Bike Month, MDOT has released a bicycling PSA which you can watch here!  And last, but not least, Endomondo partnered with League of American Bicylists, Bikes Belong and a few other sponsors have come together to put on the National Bike Challenge that kicked off May 1. It runs all summer and at the end of the summer, they are giving away some prizes! Go to www.lmb.org/nationalbikechallenge for more information and to sign up on our Michigan specific landing page.

Ride safely out there!
