Michigan Cycling Friends,

Many of you probably have already received these notices, so I apologize if this message is duplicative, but we wanted to make sure you knew about the Michigan Transportation Plan Public Meetings that begin today and run through August 22.  LMB encourages bicyclists from across the state to participate in these local community meetings and to provide public comment on the plan before the Sept 1 deadline.

Subject: REMINDER: Draft State Long-Range Plan

Which roadmap should the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) follow to address our state’s transportation needs through 2035? MDOT seeks your input to help revise its long-range plan, “MI Transportation Plan: Moving Michigan Forward.”  Put yourself behind the wheel and join us for one or more of the upcoming public meetings to discuss the draft document. The 5 to 7 p.m. open houses will feature brief presentations at 5:15 p.m. and 6:15 p.m.* The same information will be presented at each location. The draft plan will be available at www.michigan.gov/slrp beginning Aug. 1, 2012. MDOT will seek public comments on the plan through Sept. 1. Please call 517-373-9534 for further information. With seven days advance notice, MDOT can make meeting materials available in alternative formats like large print, audio tape, signing and language translation.

This week we begin our public meetings for the 2035 MI Transportation Plan; hope you can join us.  If not, you’ll find a brief message from State Transportation Director Kirk Steudle and the public meeting presentation at  www.michigan.gov/slrp. Take a look and let us know what you think! The comment period runs through August 31.
