Hi Committee,

By the looks of the Facebook event, we currently only have one
person wanting to come to the film screening. I guess it makes
sense for us to go there at 6 and see if anyone does come? If
not, shall we just play it by ear?

Also, I don't really want to have to say this - I hate to sound
grumpy - but I'm beginning to feel like I'm having to do a rather
disproportionate amount to keep the club running. It would be
really helpful if you guys wouldn't mind making a particular
effort to respond efficiently to emails/any jobs to do (or to say
that you won't be able to do something for whatever reason is
fine too of course), to just be a bit more present would be
really good. If there are points asking for feedback in the
minutes then it would be great to get some feedback. ;) A bit
more initiative around e.g. suggesting we have a committee
meeting from time to time, promoting events etc would be
wonderful too. As a committee we are all reliant on each other to
do our part to help and of course I do realize that we all get
busy at times, we all forget to do stuff once in a while and that
we're not perfect (all applying very much to me too), but I'm
feeling that's beginning to happen a bit much. I asked not to be
president last semester because I knew I wouldn't have time, and
to be honest, I didn't really want that responsibility as I still
feel a bit new to uni clubs (and uni in general). I definitely
would like to see the club continue and I know from what you both
have said that you would as well. Nastassja - if you know you are
going to have a pretty limited amount of time to help out on LLS
perhaps you could hunt for an extra committee member for us (not
to replace you, unless you'd prefer that, but we could really do
with one more enthusiastic person)? Preferably someone who is
still here next year and who has a lot of language/linguisticy
friends. What do you think?

I realize all of that might come across as very grumpy and I'm
really sorry but I would rather say how I'm feeling directly than
just let it build up and then have unfair expectations if you
know what I mean. Feel free to write back with any thoughts. I'm
open to suggestions of how I could be more helpful as well :)

Best wishes,

Aine

Hi Aine,

I'm sorry I haven't been more active on the committee as late -- I
have had a viral infection recently and so am rather behind with my
work, and well overburdened with my tutoring job as it is. So thanks
for your hard work in keeping the club alive.

As for the film screening, we should be prepared for people to turn
up, and as we know Facebook RSVPs aren't the most reliable way of
judging how many people are going to show. I've put some posters up
in Arts 1 too (by the lifts) so hopefully that may bring some more
people.

By the way, I went through the uoalls inbox again yesterday and
deleted some spam; it doesn't look like there's anything we need to
respond to urgently. I haven't read the clubs newsletters or things
like that, though.

Best regards,
Rouan

That's definitely fair enough. I'm happy to be Acting President
for now and till the end of the year if need-be. I'd think it'd
be good to see if we can find some people interested in being on
the committee next year and have them come to our AGM (date TBC
but provisionally we've said 22 Oct).

Hi guys,

Aine, don't worry, the point you're making is totally fair, it is
basically
down to you that the club is running at all at the moment and
you're right,
it isn't really up to you to have to take care of that.

I don't want to go into details, but since I accepted the role of
president
last semester a whole host of unfortunate circumstances have
arisen which
have completely compromised my availability in terms of extra
curricular
activities especially. At this point I do think finding a
replacement would
be the best bet as my main focus is going to have to be catching
up on all
the classes etc i gave missed and I realize it must be incredibly
annoying
having me floating about in the role doing next to nothing.

If neither of you are keen to take on the role then I suppose an
external
search is in order.

Thanks, Nastassja
