So I have this thought exercise that I'd like to try on all of you.

If you had the option to show your character one movie you thought they would like, what would it be and why?

I'm interested to see the results.

Can anyone recommend a film which clearly and comprehensively explains the principles of and construction of gunpowder and firearms?
Barring that, Runaway Train.

I feel a little ashamed for my pick, since you all seem to have picked really great movies.

I picked Look Whose Talking Too. You know, that really stupid talking baby movie starring Bruce Willis and Roseanne Barr, with John Travolta and Kirstie Alley before we knew they were crazy.

The central plot is family centric, most of the problems are solved with love, and the overall theme of the movie is appreciating your loved ones and growing better as a person.  The movie is completely ridiculous (there's a scene with an anthropomorphic toilet threatening bite off a kids butt if he sits on it,) but I like to explain it away by saying those things are works of creatures from the twilight realm.  As I watched this movie I couldn't help but think, "I'm pretty sure a Wahlan wrote this script."

My runners up would've been Grave of the Fireflies, Two Brothers, or Pet Semetary.

Evita. Though, I highly doubt it would be a good thing if Aveline got her hands on a soundtrack.

Lord of Illusions. Magic is always evil, and even if you try to use it to fight evil, it will destroy you eventually. Sure, you thought binding the evil sorcerer with blood magic would keep people safe, but it just pushed the danger off for a decade and half, and then made things even worse when he came back as a powerful lich with the stated intention of "murder the world." Only self-sacrfice will save humanity.

Or just this clip from the Simpsons.

Gunpowder is always...Difficult. If you don't get the proportions exactly right...Boom.

Or worse..Fizzle.
