It is with great honour that we invite you to the upcoming session of the NALSAR Lecture Series on Constitutionalism, featuring Mr. Talha Abdul Rahman, Advocate-on-Record at the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and a distinguished alumnus of NALSAR University of Law (Class of 2008). He pursued a Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) at Oxford University on a full scholarship as a Shell Centenary Chevening Scholar. Currently, he serves as the Deputy Advocate General of Punjab, Managing Partner at CTAR, and Independent Partner at VidhiSastras.

Throughout his career, Mr. Rahman has contributed significantly to the field of law. Early on, he worked with AZB & Partners in Mumbai as part of their Dispute Resolution Team, representing multinational corporations in high-stakes commercial disputes. At the young age of 26, he was appointed Standing Counsel for the Income Tax Department at the Allahabad High Court, where his work received widespread appreciation from the bench and the department alike. 

He also spent five years assisting Senior Advocate and former Solicitor General of India, Mr. Gopal Subramanium, appearing in landmark cases such as the Right to Privacy (Aadhaar), the Maharashtra Dance Bar Case, and the Gutka-Tobacco Ban Case. Mr. Rahman has appeared in numerous high-profile matters, including representing the Government of Jammu and Kashmir in a multi-crore arbitration concerning the construction of a dam and handling cartelization cases involving cement and automobile manufacturers before the Competition Commission of India. He has also been appointed Junior Standing Counsel for both the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence and the Income Tax Department by the Government of India. Apart from his legal practice, Mr. Rahman has made substantial contributions to academic discourse. He has authored several impactful articles, such as “Medical Negligence and Doctors’ Liability” and “Why Aadhaar Is a Perversion of the Constitution.” His expertise is also reflected in his recorded course on professional skills for lawyers on Eastern Book Company’s e-learning portal and chapters he has authored on Professional Ethics and the Law of Bail.

This lecture will delve into the nuances of evidence law and its application in contemporary legal contexts, offering attendees valuable insights from Mr. Rahman’s vast experience. Following the lecture, there will be a Question-and-Answer session, allowing for an engaging and interactive discussion with the speaker.
