It is with great delight that we invite you to the online panel discussion hosted by NALSAR's flagship- NALSAR Lecture Series on Constitutionalism.
Topic: The All-India Judicial Services: Rethinking Recruitment, Federalism, and Access to the Bench

This panel will feature three eminent speakers:
- Justice (Retd.) Prabha Sridevan, Former Judge, Madras High Court.
- Adv Mr Bharat Chugh, Former Judge, Delhi Judicial Services.
- Ms Chitrakshi Jain, Author: Tareekh Pe Justice, also NALSAR Batch of 2014.
The session will be moderated by Mr Advay Vora, Assistant Editor at Supreme Court Observer (SCO).
The idea of an All-India Judicial Service (AIJS) has long generated both excitement and concern - touching on federalism, representation, and the future of the district judiciary. With the Supreme Court’s recent ruling reinstating a practice requirement for judicial recruitment, the AIJS debate has taken on fresh urgency.
To give you a sense of the themes and stakes, we are sharing the concept note (attached). It outlines the core questions that will animate the panel.
We are also sending 2 pieces to help you situate the discussion in both its constitutional and practical contexts.
