Hi All,

Thought you might like to see our work in progress.  In honor of LLL's 200th birthday we painted a pair of hives (5 mediums tall, each) with a portrait of the good reverend.  Using the resources at hand (older colonies in one case and a nuc in the other) we are beginning to "install" bees in the portrait hives.  Attached are photos showing the progress to date.  In the left half of Langstroth, we are placing small cell foundation. In the right half, standard foundation.  As we add, we'll share photos and eventually the whole thing should come together right around Sept. 10 -12 weekend of the Philadelphia Honey Festival in PA.   I am interested in knowing of and seeing photos of other "art" hives - meaning, something other than one color.  If anyone wants to share their photos, I'd appreciate it.  If we get enough, we'll display the photos at Honey Fest (if you'll permit).

Are there other art hives here?  Seems like it was an Old World tradition to paint sacred scenery on hives. You may be starting a new trend.
