Have you ever used a CNC machine? Would you like to build something cool and useful? Maybe an intelligent robot, a smart house, or even a submarine? We’ve got something perfect for you!
It is with great excitement that we invite you to our Build It Weekend 3.0: Build Outside the Box! The event is taking place on the weekend of Friday, February 8, 2019 until Sunday, February 10, 2019 in the American University of Beirut.
What is it?
The Build It Weekend is a national university-level hardware hackathon. Your goal is to design, build and program a working prototype of a project that is both innovative and useful. A prepared technical team will help you to reach your target. You can choose a project based on your level and challenge yourself to do it. An exhibition will be held at the end of the event, where each team will showcase their project, and have it assessed by a panel of judges.
What topic is the project about?
There are no constraints when it comes to picking your topic, but we have a list of suggested ideas for you to look over and the judging criteria to give you a glimpse of what the judges are expecting.
What should we bring with us?
Laptops and a basic toolbox. A large set of parts and tools will be at your disposal. Also, you will have access to the manufacturing workshops, and CNC machines at AUB. Don’t worry if you don’t know how to use them, come and you will learn! A special team will be available to provide technical assistance and advice.
N.B.: Each team will have a dedicated budget to order new parts for their project if the available inventory is not enough.
When is it?
This is going to be a 48 hours event, starting on the 8th of February and ending on the 10th. If you want, bring your sleeping bag with you! Check out the attached schedule.
Any prizes?
Prizes of $1500 will be given to the top teams.

serve policy. The capacity is limited; register as soon as possible to guarantee a place.
Teams should consist of 3-5 participants, from any major and university in Lebanon.
