Llansawel have got off to a reasonable start this season and hopefully
they will be able to put the battle they had to survive last year
behind them and have amuch more successful season. Good luck to
everyone for the new season.

Being a long serving member (ex member but on his way back VERY soon)
of this football team I hope we stay up after all the extremely hard
work we put in over the years to get there. If I may be so bold as to
quote Wyn Evans ; "We wanted this club to go Welsh league for all the
players who haven't had the chance to taste Welsh league football and
have been loyal enough to stay at this club even though they've had
offers from elsewhere" (I may have mis-quoted but that's the general
message...).

The last thing I want to see is Llansawel go back down to the Neath
league after all the blood, sweat and tears (to quote Churchill) that
have been shed since 1985 (the year that Llansawel was formed). I
really want to believe that we can stay up but, in order for that to
happen, we need to get the arrogance back that was inherent in the
team that annihilated all opposition in the season that we won all 6
trophies on offer. I must admit that I haven't been following results
as closely as I should have (what with leaving to join the Grave) but
from what I've heard from various, differing sources is that there is
a general lack of confidence in the Llansawel camp. All I can say is
"Why?". There are a cracking bunch of players there at the moment and
enough ability in the ranks to more than hold our own against the
teams in this division.

The question is "Why aren't we performing to our potential?". To be
honest, as said by someone whose name is shrouded in antiquity,
"football is all about opinions" and this is just mine...

I think... that we've lost our bottle. We've got players there with
the technical ability to do well but who are maybe lacking the "balls"
to actually die for the cause. When I was playing there were players
there (myself included who it's been often said of that "I can't kick
a tin") who would run through brick walls just to win a tackle.
Although I don't know what's happening at the moment I doubt whether
this is the case any more. At the expense of making a few enemies, I
think that the new players that came in were expecting an easy ride
after dominating the reserve divisions of the Welsh league. Let me
make one thing clear ; the gap between the Welsh league proper and the
reserve Welsh league is massive... The sooner we realise this we may
actually get our act together.

I've got lots more to say on the subject than I could possibly put in
this short e-mail but I will gladly talk to anybody who wants to
converse with me on the issue further. I'll be in training on Tuesday
so "watch out, Chopper's about...".

P.S. To John Jones... A little birdie told me that you're playing
awesome at the moment but you're not willing to play for the 1sts. A
word of advice ; swallow your pride and show what you're capable of.
At the end of the day if the 1sts go down (which they very nearly did
last season) the 2nds go down as well... If you can do something to
stop that then you've more than proved your point.

Au revoir... ;o)

chopper for a boy who people have said you could not kick a tin you
talk some sense mate, but in foootball there is only two issues to be
addressed, players or management, the club i dont think has enough
money to bring in some serious talent, so you have to make do with
what you got, the second, maybe the mangement is not up to it, for the
die hard players who have stuck around since you started and
understand the importance of the club, they will always fight, but as
you said the, luxury players i call them, i think they are just happy
to say i play welsh league, but at the end of the day everybody has to
pull together, i think you have a good structure in managment, so
maybe its the players after all, by the end of the season the table
will tell all, but for now i wish the club every succsess, i hope you
turn things around
