Hi Carolina,

A little update and sneak preview on BTC' recycling expansion program. Presently BTC' stakeholders are still reviewing the proposal, likely the entire planning & approval process will be completed by end of this month. If they have no major amendments, you will start seeing new recycling bins at the proposed location by end of march 2013.

Good news is we had already got the green light from Office of Estate and Development for implementation, they will be the operational body running and maintaining the recycling program in BTC.

Will keep you guys updated once we got the final implementation approval.

Attached is part of the submitted proposal. If you guys have any further proposal, please do let me know, we can include it in our next round of recycling review coming up in May 2013.

Dear Sou Chan,

Thank you for calling me yesterday. Our main suggestions for the recycle points in BTC are:
1) Sapore (cafe)
2) Canteen (maybe we should replace the bins, since many people don't know about these bins)
3) Law Building, in front of the study room (Block B)
4) OTH Lobby
5) PET recycling point in the gym
6) MM building (second floor)
7) MM building (third floor)

Please let me know if I can help you with anything.

Thanks a lot!

Best,

Carolina Lima

Dear Carol

Lucy mentioned this in one of our discussions before and we agreed that the existing bins might not be at the most useful locations and could be moved. If I am not mistaken, there should be two existing recycling bin points in BTC:

1.       Block B (behind canteen) – yellow bin (drink cans) and green bin (plastic bottles)

2.       Library main entrance – yellow bin, green bin and blue bin (paper)

My colleague, Sou Chan, has taken over the recycling initiative as I will be leaving NUS at the end of Jan. So I am copying this to him and Mr Supari and Mr Ang Chee Wee from the Office of Estate Development, who handle the daily operations for the recycling initiative. Sou Chan, Supari and Chee Wee are currently looking at the recycling demands of the campus so they would be the best persons to follow up on this matter with you.

It was a pleasure working with you and Lucy, all the best to you and the LKYSPP Environmental Committee!

Best regards

Dear Joyce,

The LKY Environmental Committee would like to know how we can help you to set the new recycle bins at BTC. We got many feedbacks from students that they never see recycle points in our campus.

Our suggestions for the new recycle points in BTC are:
1) Canteen
2) Sapore (coffee shop)

Please let me know if I can do anything to accelerate the proccess for us to get recycle bins at BTC.

Thank you!

All the best,
Carolina Lima
