Next Event - April 17

Dear all,

 

The Environment Committee is organising an event together with the Institute Water Policy. Prof. Dennis approached Lucy and I and asked the Environment Committee to lead this event ('Carbon for Water').

 

Date, time and venue: Wednesday, April 17, 12:15 pm to 1:30 pm, in the Manasseh Meyer Building, Room 3-1

 

It will be a movie screening (20 min.) followed by an 'Impact Chat event'. You can watch the movie (see link below) to have an idea on the topic.

This a movie that IIX (http://www.asiaiix.com/) is promoting. Probably one of their investors made the movie (I will check this with them).

Dennis suggested that some students and faculty could participate in the panel (discussion). So I will invite Dodo (I guess he knows about carbon credits...) and will be happy to contribute in the panel as well, making a few questions to the specialist from IIX who will be there. Any of you want to join me?

 

Please let us know how you can hep us with this event! We need to hire a catering and to do the advertisement (they will probably send us a flyer...).

So how should we organize this panel/discussion? I was thinking about inviting Dodo to the panel. The speaker from IIX will be: "Magnus Young, former LKY School graduate and current the manger of our Assessment and Research team, where we just completed a water/sanitation report that will be published by ADB later this year".

 

I think that Dodo and the speaker could be in the panel, and the two of us could be the moderators/chairs, as the Environment Committee (so we would have a more informal role). What do you think? We can make a few questions and comments, and present the speakers etc.

 

Let me know what you think! I need to send the invitation to Dodo (if you guys agree) and to let them know how the panel will work.

Hi Carol,

Would this be an interesting event to invite Dorjee?  For everyone else, Dorjee is the Executive Director of Carbon Conservation, based in Singapore, Carol's carbon company pre-LKYSPP.

I think Dodo would be interesting too.  We could try both.

My suggestion:

1) Magnus 

2) Dodo - enviro economics?  What angle would we want him to provide? 

3) Dorjee - private sector side

4) Student - Carol or Sue
