Meeting, and Election Results of LKA TMC - May 29

Dear Friends ,

On 29 May, 2012 ,we had a fantastic meeting ,

Mary thanked every member for their contribution and support of  LKA during the present Ex-Co 's term of office .
She mentioned that the club achieved its President Distinguished Club status( the first since 8 years ago) -only with the help of the whole committee and the full co-operation of the members . She particularly thanked those who gave their educational awards to LKA and Kelvin who worked hard to get the programmes done , Gibson who conscientiously wrote the minutes of meetings , Ban for his contribution of buns and Gerald Ong who came into the committee to help the ex-co too. 

Steven Choon ,  who joined the ex-committee  only in Jan /Feb 2012, was a great help in helping us clear
some of the financial matters as related to the CC. 

Kevin Cottam and Harry Yeo did our club proud , by  coming in first in the Div B contests for prepared speech and Table Topics .
Though they were  unplaced at the District Contest  , they put up a strong fight .

Kevin was presented his Div B trophy . ( Harry- please deputise someone
to collect yours from us at the June meeting , as we do not want it to be lost)

 Dennis presented what his evaluator  , John Shih, said
"is the most difficult project of all " as it entailed so many aspects BEFORE and AFTER the chapter meeting itself .
( this is  because Dennis had to develop a website , ask us members to log into it  and also show
good slides at he presentation, etc)

 Dennis did an effective presentation and John, as usual , was intelligently humorous as well as
effective as an evaluator .

Our new member, Allen also capably  did his second project ,

During our break, we hungrily enjoyed  the sumptuous food provided by the members.
Robert brought vegetarian bee-hoon , Ida lee some kuay kuay, Carolyn something ( not sure what as there was
so much food) May  Yan fruits  and Ban at least 8 varieties of kuay  and buns from Johore Bahru  .

It was hard to concentrate on business matters after eating all the fantastic food , but we did
have our AGM. All business matters went as planned on the agenda .( Gibson, the secretary
 will post the  Minutes of the meeting to you  later )

LKA's IPP, May Yan, conducted the elections . There were no surprises .
But we are very grateful to to all who consented to stand and also for some of the others who
kindly volunteered to be included as well .

Those who volunteered , when they saw our need to have more than on person for a position( in order
to spread the work as well as develop leadership skills) , were the follwoing
- Carolyn  Street , Teh Kai Chong and Ida lee .
A word of explanation for the post of Secretary - we need a third person because both Honey Yee
and Ban Haw Leong ( first and  second Secretary) , travel often owing to work commitments

The New EX-Co will be installed in  July as Mr Robert Ng, the President-elect  , would be travelling in June.

June is our anniversary - so come prepared to celebrate .
