Welcome to the LJC JSR 343 (JMS 2.0) group!

I'm sending this to everyone who says they were interested in helping
out with the JSR for JMS 2.0.  Adopting a JSR can take many forms.
There are two main things that we, as everyday developers, can do: 1)
get on the mailing lists for the JSR, read the available documentation
and educate the community as to what the JSR proposes - what are the
changes?  The good things?  The bad things? And 2) help the expert
group to develop the JSR along paths that are useful to the
development community, provide feedback to the development of the JSR
and help out with things like developing the TCK (technology
compatibility kit).

As a group, you guys are going to have to decide what you want to do,
and it's the leader(s) job to poke people to do what they said they
were going to do - whether it's blogging, sending mails to the LJC
list, contacting members of the expert group or arranging hack days to
code stuff that needs doing.

I personally have no experience with JMS, and I don't know what you
guys will want to do to get involved, so this is my last mail as
nominated cat-herder - you are going to have to take it from here.

Here's the list of people (you lot) who have volunteered:

Prospective Leads (i.e. people who have shown a slight interest in
being the lead):
        Prasannaa
        Michael Joyce

Interested Parties (i.e. anyone who's ever sent an e-mail expressing a slight interest in this JSR
        Ged Byrne
        Dave Snowdon
        Marwan Zeineddine
        Randeep Singh
        Tom Walker
        Shine Prakash
        Mayur Bodkhe
        Carlos Roman
        Adrian
        Sivaji K
        Mikhail Krivoshein
        Madhu Konda
        Venkat Bhimireddy
        Rodolfo Martínez
        Senthil K Kumar
        gaurav agarwal (based in India)

Your first step will be to nominate (or self-nominate) a leader.  I
think it will be good to have two actually, as it means that when one
of you is swamped with work or gets ill or whatever there's always
another person there to take up the slack.

There is a section on the Adopt a JSR page on Java.net -
http://java.net/projects/ljc-london-jug/pages/AdoptAJSRProgram#JSR-343_(JMS_2.0).
This will need to be kept up to date with what you guys are doing,
and if you have enough material I suggest you start your own page the
same way the Date/Time (JSR 310) guys have.

If you have any questions on how this Adopt a JSR thing works, the 310
guys (James Gough (@JavaJimLondon) & Richard Warburton
(@RichardWarburto) in particular) are good people to ask, because
they're doing a great job with Date/Time.  Also Martijn, Ben Evans and
myself are always happy to answer questions, or can help put you in
touch with people if you need it.

I appreciate things are slowing down for Christmas but it would be
great to kick this off shortly.  Next steps:
 - Decide on your leaders
 - Suggest ideas for how you can contribute
 - Ask questions about what you guys want out of this
 - Someone to write a blog post / e-mail to the LJC list about who you
are and what you're thinking of doing.

I'm going to create a Google group for this group to make it easier to
manage (ljc-adopt-jsr-343), you should receive an invitation shortly.
If any of you do not want to be involved at all, now would be a good
time to say so.

Thanks for your interest, and get on with it ;)
