"Once there was a tree and she loved a little boy. And the boy loved the tree...very much. And the tree was happy."
-Shel Silverstein
Our next couple lessons will focus on thankfulness and giving thanks. We will gather together for snacks, attendance, and singing "if you are thankful and you know it..." We will read the classic children's book, "The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein. This will open up a rich discussion about how we can all give generously and resourcefully, how to maintain relationships even as our lives change, how to be grateful for what we have, and the differences between wants and needs. We will end by working together to collage our class's very own "thank bank." In our future classes throughout the year, we will each deposit a 'thank bank slip" which will illustrate or describe one activity from the proceeding week for which we are grateful. From time to time, we will revisit the items in our thank bank.
Hope to see you all on Sunday! If you aren't able to make it this week, consider reading the Giving Tree at home or watch this
original movie of the Giving Tree narrated by the author.
