Collection for Room Rental for LJ15 Meetings

Dear Team,

I'd like to collect the outstanding $ towards the Queens Pride House Room Rental either Thursday or Friday. We had four meetings total:

7/14, 7/28, 8/4, and 8/18 -- each time the per person fee was $8 except 8/18, which was $6 since it was a shorter meeting and QPH only charged us for the time we were there. Nice!

Here are my thoughts:

We get to resolve this before this weekend. I suggest we hold a total team vote 8/28 and announce on 10:00 call. 

Comments about finance captain (???) and remarks of no-one showing interest.

Did anyone enroll the team? I remember it being brought up with no committed action to follow. What was I expected to show interest in?

We should not have to pay. I remember announcement, specifically not voting because I didnt feel it involved me.

When was it decided locating a meeting room (not CEC) was to allow remote members to participate?

My experience as a remote member is the value was anything but high. I do believe it was the intention of ALL to be inclusive, unfortunately that was not what I experienced.

The audio was consistently poor. there was confusion with every meeting regarding who would bring a laptop.

Every meeting started late from NY. I understand I did no commute to a separate space but i did do my share of commuting.

The value was high in theory only. The only way to be a part of the meeting was to annoyingly interrupt members.

Trust me, I know how annoying it must have been to hear me interrupt so often and yet we had to remind every other member that we were there, to speak into the phone. to allow us to share, to be a part of LJ15.

At two different meetings we were completuuely overlooked for gratitude. How is that BEing with the team? 

I believe everyone in the room wanted me there remote or in person. Unfortunately that will not be what I remember of our Sunday time together.  

This Sunday, 08/26, our last meeting together was probably the most disconnected of them all. At one point I asked for clarity on what was being discussed. One person giggled and I was dismissed, this happened several times throughout this meeting.

Again, I want to emphasize 2 things:

we get to vote on a solution by EOD an

we get to look at this situation and pass along our growing pains to LJ16

It is my understanding that we implemented tech solutions more than any previous LJ Group.

Obviously if I had gotten the space donated free it wouldn't be an issue. But renting the space allowed for you all in remote-land to participate and BE with the whole team, which was absolutely necessary. The responsibility for finding and organizing a space that would accommodate us all INCLUDING what remote set up was necessary got to be a local responsibility for us here.  If Freda you had had to rent a space in Boston for the team to be together, I think that indeed would have been a team expense as well.

1) $30 for four meetings is what we all paid here -- and I would love to enroll to you do the same. Call it the price of togetherness. Although I agree, the audio was not always even close to ideal , but the combo of GoToMeeting and the polycom were pretty good most of the time. I think the value was/is still high.

2) If you remained unconvinced, please let the rest of the team know and you get to enroll the rest of the team in making up the difference to me.

You're right. What we pay to get back:forth for the weekends/etc is not relevant to this situation.

I knew that when I wrote it, so my bad for keeping it in there. 

Here's where I stand. If I had had to pay for a place to have the meeting here in Boston, I would not 

have expected the entire team to contribute. Period. I feel that should apply the other way around. 

As for the other monies that you and I spent and were not reimbursed for, I gave up on that weeks

ago. We tried to set up "an account" for group related expenses and no one was interested in doing

that. Ok. I was a bit surprise by that, but whatever.

So I'm taking a stance on this. I am not interested in paying $30, nor do I feel I should. 

And my two cents - you should add the tip you gave the security guy at your office to the full amount

paid for mtg space. That's not yours alone to bear.

So, here's where I am with this:  When I was looking for a space I was determined to get for free, but time was running short and we were working with the Ramadan schedule...anyway, i am pretty sure I asked the team if they were aligned with paying for the space and I am pretty sure everyone agreed. That said, I may not have made it clear that it included remote folks. But I did figure that it was a team expense. But that is my breakdown for not being more precise.  I honestly thought together we agreed to do to avoid the train fare and the extra time for folks to go out to CEC. It was centrally located (more or less) and so from the beginning I factored in all of us for the $8 per person. I covered Luisa

The feast accounting needs to be dealt with tomorrow night. so far I have $100 from Nat and I am due 139 from all the goods I bought at BJ’s. I received a receipt from Tas H for some money she laid out. Tas D please forward any receipts to me for your expenses. From what I remember, we raised $300 for the feast.

 

We get to settle all these items tomorrow night inclusive of shirts/hoodies, legacy, and meeting space so we can walk into 3^rd weekend 100% ready.

I will take the lead and be the finance captain.  I have a spread sheet of the information Henrika sent out and have confirmed with here about who owes what for the LJ 15 meetings.  It's the same information she sent out earlier.  We get to be in integrity with our alignment and get this money back to Henrika however way decide on the calltonight.

 

As Larry said, we get to be in excellence before 3rd weekend.

 

About the Hoodies and T-Shirts.  Kate is the point of contact as originally discussed about giving the money.  All the details of t-shirts and hoodies has been posted as follows:

 

Hoodies are $28 / LJ15 

 

T-shirts are $20 / LJ15

 

(if you want both then that's $48)

 

 

Legacy Project: $25 each ($20 per person and $5 sourced)
