Filecorruption, missing, or deleted setup-1.bin files can result in The Black Mirror errors. Replacing your BIN file is generally a solution to fixing these issues. As a last measure, we recommend using a registry cleaner to repair any invalid setup-1.bin, BIN file extension, and other file path references which could be causing the error message.

If you've successfully replaced the file in the right location, your issues with setup-1.bin should be resolved. We recommend running a quick test to confirm that's the case. Confirm that the error is resolved by attempting to open The Black Mirror and / or conducting the operation that triggers the issue.

When I try to open a bin-archive created with Inno Setup, Innounp tells: "Can not open or read the specified file: "c:\setup-1.bin

Exception Exception message The setup files are corrupted. Please obtain a new copy of the program."

But the bin-file is not corrupted, i'm sure of it. What's the trick?

Thanks. But is there a way to open archives directly? The problem is I have a game on 3 CDs packed with Inno Setup. On each of CDs there's a file "setup-1.bin" on the first CD, setup-2.bin on the second & setup-3.bin on third. When Innounp unpacks these files at the end it says "file *** is corrupted". And I can't find out which of the archives is corrupted. Is there a way to open, for example, setup-2.bin separately without extractin all the 3 archives of the installation?

Have you tried copying all three CDs to the same directory on the HDD and unpacking setup.exe with innounp? The problem may not be with bad data read from CDs but rather with incorrect operation - you can't unpack an arbitrary slice file, say, setup-2.bin, without the information from the first slice which is not there if slices are on different CDs. Due to the format IS uses, you always have to start from setup.exe.

That's exactly what I did. I copied setup.exe, setup-1.bin, setup-2.bin, setup-3.bin to the same folder on HDD. Than I ran "innounp.exe -x setup.exe" and it began unpacking and after about 10 minutes of operation it aborted because it couldn't extract a certain file :(

What is the detected IS version? If it's 3.x or 4.0.0, you might benefit by trying the preview of the new release. I found a bug that prevented extraction of old multi-volume installations.

Try this

Assuming that the game would not install on its own, it is indeed corrupted. So the question is how the file became damaged. I can think of three cases:

1) CD 3 was copy protected. Possible but unlikely.

2) The CD image was made incorrectly, for example a disk read error went unnoticed.

3) The error was introduced later, at the image editing and/or burning phase.

CD3 was not protected I suppose, coz Disc wasn't licensed - it was a pirated one. (I'm from Russia - the 2nd largest country consuming pirated software (second - after China, where the population is 9 times lerger than here :))
