Hi all,

I am having trouble connecting to my Livox Mid-100 and have not yet found a solution. I am using a 64-bit laptop computer running on Ubuntu 16.04, and ultimately trying to run through the ROS SDK (https://github.com/Livox-SDK/Livox-SDK-ROS) on ROS Kinetic.

I have done the following so far:
  • Attempted to connect to the device through a router as in Figure 4.2.1 of the Livox Mid Series User Manual. I have my computer connected via ethernet, wifi disabled, IPv4 method 'Automatic (DHCP), and disable then re-enabled 'Enable Networking' option. After this, I have tried connecting to the device by using the new Livox Viewer for Ubuntu, and launching the Livox-SDK and Livox-SDK-ROS launch files as per the documentation. I get no results. Additionally, when I open the Livox Viewer for Ubuntu it displays the top icons banner and the bottom 'Ready' banner, but the main body is non-existent and I can see my other programs behind it, though this may be a different issue.
  • Attempted to connected to the device using a static IP address as in Figure 4.2.2 of the User Manual. Albeit I did just guess a few IP addresses to set myself as in the 192.168.1.x range, but no success when checking for results as above.
  • I have tried launching the SDKs with my broadcast lists as with broadcast code list as [serial_number] and as [serial_number]1&[serial_number]2&[serial_number]3
  • I am powering the Mid-100 with a DC adaptor outputting 12V and 2.5A - I can hear the fans in the Mid-100, although they do pulsate (¬3sec on, ¬1sec off). I'm not sure if this is normal.
  • According to the command
    sudo ufw status
    my firewall is inactive
I don't have Windows on my machine, although from what I've gathered with the new Livox Viewer for Ubuntu and the SDKs I shouldn't need it. I also am not using the sync cable yet as I don't expect I need it for set-up.

Is there something I've missed? Any guidance is fully welcomed at this point.

Cheers,

Tom

Hi tbbrodie:
You network setup seems right. The problem maybe caused by the DC adapter. Your MID-100 startup failed. Because the pick power of MID-100 when starting is higher than 2.5A@12V. We recommend DC 12V5A.

Problem solved, I changed over to a 12V 5A adapter and now works as expected using the Livox-SDK-ROS driver.

Cheers,

Tom
