North Bay Jobs with Justice:

Attached is a flyer for the presentation and book signing with Ken Jacobs, chair of the Center for Labor Research and Education at the University of California, Berkeley on Thursday, June 12th at 6 pm at 6225 State Farm Drive, Rohnert Park (Operating Engineers Building).

His areas of specialization include health care coverage, the California budget, low-wage work, the retail industry, and public policy. Before joining the Labor Center he was with the Bay Area Organizing Committee (BAOC), an affiliate of the Industrial Areas Foundation, and served as co-director of the San Francisco Living Wage Coalition.

Jacobs will discuss the new book he has co-edited, "When Mandates Work," about the multiple ordinances implemented in San Francisco over the last 15 years to raise pay by living wage and city-wide minimum wage ordinances, provide universal health care and paid sick days, and to protect the right to organize.

There will be a brief update about our living wage campaign for the County of Sonoma--and Ken Jacobs will conclude his presentation by touching upon the lessons of the San Francisco experience for our campaign in Sonoma County. Questions and answers will follow his presentation. The book will be available for purchase at the event.

Coffee and dessert will be provided at 6 pm and the program will begin at 6:30 pm. Admission is free and open to the public.
