Not working with 2.8+

I can't for the life of me figure out the problem here. I'm using
2.8.4 and I don't know exactly when it stopped working. In the past,
when it failed to pick up my journal settings (userpic list, etc) it
was always a class-IXR issue, dating back to unteins-era days...but
we're not replacing class-IXR anymore so I don't know what it is.
Anybody else have this problem?
