Does anything happen to exist in LCD that would let us build a chart -
other than saving an image and embedding it ?

Thanks,
Robert.

Yes, I concur with your request, Robert.

I faced this requirement about 2 years ago, and I had generate the
chart using Google Chart APIs from .NET using NGChart, then download
the image to a local file, conver it to binrary, then to Base64
encoded string, then push the string to the Image Field in LC Form
using XDP format.

If Adobe can do something to make it easier to generate a chart
directly in the form, that will be great !

You could make a Flex Chart and embed it using Acrobat Pro.  This could be connected to a web service for the dataprovider.

Thanks, but we re using SAP as the backend and our version doesn't support Flex yet.

Thanks,
Robert.

What can the SAP system speak?  Can it do HTTP? SOAP?  There are rumours a few people have built ABAP <-> AMF converters too (I’ll let them declare themselves if they want).

One of the folks on acrobatusers.com came up with a way of doing some
different kinds of charts using FormCalc.

Also, check this link:

http://www.acrobatusers.com/forums/aucbb/viewtopic.php?id=14620

The method here uses server-side processing to generate the chart
using any tool like Google Chart APIs.

Hope this helps too.

Tarek.
